This morning, I ventured into Corner Grill at 1899 Brevard Rd, Arden, NC 28704, for breakfast, with little hesitation due to its unconventional setting attached to a Shell gas station. However, any initial doubts quickly dissipated upon entering. The cafe was bustling with locals, a promising sign of good food and a welcoming atmosphere.
The staff greeted me warmly, adding to the café's charm. I opted for the sausage and cheese omelet with a side of ham, intrigued by the cafe's good reputation from previous reviews. Service was swift, and it wasn't long before I was presented with my meal.
The breakfast exceeded my expectations—it was delicious and satisfyingly filling. The quality of the meal, combined with the friendliness of the staff, made for a wonderful dining experience. It's a reminder not to judge a book by its cover or, in this case, a cafe by its location.
To those hesitant about visiting a cafe within a gas station, let Corner Grill change your mind. It's a hidden gem I'm glad to have discovered, and I eagerly look forward to my next visit. I recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty breakfast and a warm welcome...
Read moreCheap food fast. Some of the staff are good and some are not. Nothing fancy here. The stakes are pretty darn good considering the price (When Gary is working they're very good). Get it seasoned and seared medium rare or rare and nuke it for 45 seconds when you get home for medium rare and up to temp) is the best. Loaded baked potato is pretty good too. Livermush, egg and cheese sandwich with tomato is a breakfast staple. The bathroom here is not good, it's old and needs a remodel. Jerry (tall, mustache there ever morning) is the owner and his son is Gary (evenings usually). They both try really hard but sometimes things are what they are. Jerry is very adamant about keeping it the way it is and I don't blame him, he's a really great person and has served the community for decades, since 1993 ish. Gary is about the same way, I do cherish them and the local family. All in all... If traditions didn't get in the way you'd be paying double, though, it might have a bit more favor but the traditional effects would...
Read moreThe Corner Grill was a fun experience. Quick friendly service during a lunch rush was amazing. We got seated immediately and had our food sitting on the table within 10 minutes. This "Diner" was very, very clean as well. The menu items were typical Southern fare and admittedly was not the healthiest choices. We both had battered and fried pork chops that were maybe a little overcooked. They were a bit dark brown and dry. The potato salad was not like what I'm used to and appeared to more of mashed potato and kind of flavorless. The "grape salad" was delicious as well as the Lima beans and Green beans. The iced tea was a bit strong and sweet but I truly think that's how the patrons want it. The customers appeared to mostly be hard working men taking lunch from the nearby highway construction. I gave this place 4 stars because of how hard these ladies were waiting on a packed house of hardworking men on their hour-long lunch break. They were Amazing. Sorry..was too hungry to...
