Tonight marks the end of giving this place the benefit of the doubt. The food is okay—we’ve had authentic Mexican food before in Cancun, PVR, Cabo San Lucas—so we’re not overly impressed by El Burrito. The service is always a hit or miss when we done in. But tonight, we placed an online order. When we arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was practically empty: one couple was leaving and another couple had been served & was eating. Three staff members were sitting at a booth…they all looked over at us waiting at the unattended reception area & continued on with their conversation. Two other staff walked around aimlessly on their phones. The bartender came from the back, glanced our way, & went in the opposite direction. Even after we attempted to get the attention of another waitress, we were overlooked. After waiting for 10 minutes, my husband walked over to a waiter who came from the back (on his phone) & explained that we’d not been helped. He disappeared to the back again. After another five minutes & with at least five staff in the dining area, another staff member came to the reception area & very dryly asked asked us, “Can I help you?” We explained that we’d been waiting for 15 minutes and wanted to pick up our order. She sighed heavily & said, “What’s the order number?” Once we provided it to her, she said that we needed to pay—I disputed this because I’d paid online. She just stood there, so I presented a copy of the order that I’d printed & decided to take with us at the last minute. She didn’t acknowledge that she had incorrectly tried to charge us; instead, she just walked to the bar area & brought our food back. By this time, my husband was livid. He asked for the manager, who was standing near the reception area. Believe it or not, when the staff member told the manager that we asked for him, he walked off back into the kitchen area. We waited another five minutes for him to return. My husband explained how disappointed we were with the lack of service. This manager never looked us in the eyes. He kept his eyes down the entire time & toyed with the screen at the reception area. Of course, this infuriated us all the more! I’m not certain that he was intimidated, ashamed, or just plain old dismissive. What I do know for sure is that we will NEVER spend another penny at this place. & we told him as much. He finally mumbled, “I’m sorry.” You think!?!?! We’ll go where we’re treated like we’re appreciated—& I promise that we won’t...
Read moreThis place is just...meh. First off, its an open design, so every noise, conversation, etc echoes throughout the entire restaurant. Trying to have a conversation is difficult. If you're lucky, like we were, you'll get to enjoy children's screams that echo so loud you can't hear what people at your table are saying. Other comments/reviews note the industrial spot lights that they have at each table. Bring your sunglasses, or you'll be walking out blinded by them. Food is so-so. If you like Mexican food, you'll be disappointed. If you're ok for mediocre Mexican fare, this is your place. Portion size wasnt overly large as noted in other reviews. Need something from your server? Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time between visits to make a full list. Employees make rounds through the table areas, but don't try to flag them down. They're very good at not actually looking at tables, so they conveniently don't see you. Tried for about 20 minutes to get something that they forgot to bring with the food. My wife was half way through her meal before we got was ordered and forgotten. All in all, just avoid this place and go to Mi Casita. You'll have a better experience, with better food. We figured we would try this place, but I won't be going back. Good luck if you decide to give it a shot. Sorry, but they could do much better,...
Read moreWe placed an online order at 6:48, it says it would be ready at 7:48. We came to pick up around 7:40. We waited 10 minutes or so. We checked with the hostess and she told us it would be another 10-15 minutes. We took a seat and waited. 15 minutes went by the hostess assured us only another 10 minutes. We waited another 15. Another employee asked us what we were waiting for. We explained our order and she said she would personally go back and make our food. She said it would only take her 5 minutes. We said thank you and she left. She seemed to be taking phone calls. We watched as she and the hostess walked past us, avoiding eye contact. We approached her again and she promised us the owner was making our food now. We waited as 2 more to go orders were picked up. We waited a full 2 and a half hours. 1 hour at home and and hour and half at the restaurant before we finally just asked for our money back. We watched as people walked in off the street, placed their orders, ate their food, and left while we waited. We never had an issue at the old el burrito. The employee who told us that she would make our food and that the owner was making our food told us that their online ordering system was malfunctioning. If this were the case we should have been told up front, not a continuous line of...
