Fry Daddy's Grill — Restaurant in North Carolina

I have been to this location twice now. Most often when I have passed by it has been busy. The food I find to be very good except when I ordered the fish, onion rings and the fried okra the last time I went. By the time I got it home which was only a half a mile away all items had basically steamed themselves in the styrofoam container and nothing was crispy. Everything was soft and nearly soggy, even the cornbread.😣 I think some of the Green Bean Juice might have gotten in with the cornbread as I was carrying it in the bag to my house. I was extremely disappointed because it cost so much for the dinner. I was told it would be about 20 minutes before it was ready and I got there in about 10 minutes and it was already ready but I had to wait behind another customer and he was a nice gentleman but a long talker so the dinner was closed up in the styrofoam sweating. I will not order that dinner again for takeout. The previous time I had the hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and green beans and it was delicious. It was almost as if it had been cooked in a pressure cooker because the meat was so tender. The price had increased I believe somewhere between $1.50 + $2.00 though. 😣 I think I will find places more reasonably priced that I can sit down in because they have very limited seating. For those interested the seating is not wheelchair friendly it is a very small building not much bigger than my living room and it smells very heavy of Grease. Their ventilation system leaves a lot to be desired because it just clings to your clothes and your hair like smoke.😞 the staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. They are pretty fast at getting your dinner...

Let’s talk about the ONE HIT WONDER of this place ! Food was fantastic the first time I came. As a pregnant woman with cravings I decide to return. Only to receive sweet potato fries that taste like cleaning products and gives my mouth a burning sensation with a dash of numbness. So I tell the waitress, once I was for sure I wasn’t going crazy and she tells me that she has no idea why, because they don’t spray or use cleaning products in that area. At the time I was like well that’s what the fries taste like and I’m just worried about my baby I’m carrying. She was nice enough to ask me if I would like them to “Re-toss” them .. uhm no, redo or remake either one I don’t want to eat anything from a place that had my food tasting like cleaning products. Then I thought about her saying they don’t clean over there so……… Your food place is just dirty. Btw I’m military and they will over charge military and give them a discount at the same time, you pay the same price or more… I will never return and others I was with feel the same…. Sad because the first time was great, but I guess that’s how one hit wonders are right? So the 2stars are for the first...

Two locations, this being the Rosewood one. Came for dinner on the date above. Interior is unique in that some seating is around a corner. Limited. Our table felt a tad sticky but wasn't dirty. Menus, however, were dirty.

Got the Coastal Platter (16.99). A lot of food! Preface by saying I wanted okra and catfish, but they were out of both. So I got flounder, oysters, trout, mac and cheese, fries, and it comes with puppies. I found the trout ok but would have preferred catfish. Would skip it. The flounder was fried nicely, light and flavorful. Excellent. Oysters were also fried nicely with a hint of sweet bite to them. Excellent, too. Would totally reorder both the flounder and oysters. Mac and cheese and fries are good, accompanying sides. Puppies did nothing for me and needed butter.

Service was good and waitress attentive. Needs to work on inventory a bit as was really looking forward to okra and catfish.
