So many people are not truthful about reviews but they are only as helpful as they are true. My husband and I ate here on Tuesday, the waitress highly recommended the Friday night All-you-can-eat fried Popcorn shrimp and catfish, so I waited patiently for the promised treat. OMG, what a HUGE disappointment! The collards were so salty I had to send them back, got pinto beans instead, blah. Coleslaw was tasteless but you expect fried popcorn shrimp to be all breading , it was. The catfish breading was exactly as I like but I was shocked to find the fish MUSHY!!! Not flaky at all. My husband's was the same but he uses so much mayo and tartar sauce that he did not notice or care. I gave up after checking the 3rd piece. (Homemade tartar sauce was good with dill pickle instead of sweet pickle.) I did not bother with dessert after Tuesday's cobbler letdown. When the hostess came by expecting a rave review, I hesitated to tell the truth but decided to say the catfish was less than expected. Her comment that they sell a lot of it, it is so popular and nobody ever has complained, I spelled it out that I grew up in North GA and have lived in FL since 1980, eating plenty of delicious fried catfish and this is not it. Order something else and lower your expectations. Service was only fair. Probably will not eat here again as there are many restaurants to...
Read moreThe comforts of home cooked meals and the hospitality that comes with it. Julie’s Place seems to be the oasis in the economically depressed and restaurant lacking area of Peachtree. Beautifully decorated with Christian themed local art and home decor, with many items for sell. This mother and daughters owned and operate establishment offers a wide variety of feel good lunch and dinner meals. First up was the mouth watering, made from scratch biscuits and apple butter. Flaky and warm biscuits with the complimentary subtle taste of apple butter spread over it. My main course was the Julie's Bowl with the mashup of fried chicken chunks, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, brown gravy and shredded cheddar-jack cheese sprinkled on top. Good flavor with plenty of ingredients that went well together. Temperature of food could have been hotter. Completing the meal, fried apple pie and ice cream. Not real sweet, just a subtle apple filling with a flaky crust fried to perfection. Ice cream did add a touch of sweetness. Dining area was an open floor plan with tables and chairs, tastefully decorated, with the feel of being down home. Service was impeccable, friendly and food was reasonably priced and...
Read moreJulie’s Place offers the best Southern comfort food that is served up with a heaping helping of Southern hospitality that is easy on the family’s pocketbook. As a Yankee invading the wife’s family clan on our way to Clemson, we veer off course and stop atJulie’s on our semi annual trek. Now I live for southern fried catfish, the way Julie’s fixes it, with all those trimmings! And their home made coleslaw is truly a desire for my taste buds. Add a loaded baked potato and a couple of freshly made biscuits with green beans and potlick to cover your biscuits with, that make my comfort food drive worth every out-of-the-mile I drive. The wife loves their rainbow trout ensemble with freshly baked cornbread. They offer several Southern comfort dinners that great too. But for me, it’s the catfish! We love Julie’s and wish they would open a second family restaurant up here in NE Ohio. They are located out in a community we have always called Peachtree which has a Murphy address but is about five miles east of Murphy and a couple of miles north of Brasstown off of Federal route 64 and State route 141 on 141 just past Tri-C Community College. This is a Southern hidden treasure for...
