The last time we were at Nineteen Restaurant was in April of 23 at which time I gave it a four-star rating and I'm giving it a 2 star rating due completely to the service they provide.
This time my son and wife joined us on Valentineâs Day and had their Valentineâs Day Four Course Tasting Menu. We got there before my son who made the reservations and once again there was confusion about the reservations. Apparently, they have multiple people making reservations and or changes to reservations and each person uses separate documents to record the reservation or any changes to the reservation. When my sone arrived he gave the hostess the name of the person who he delt with. They had to get that person to show the hostess which document contained the reservation. What a waste of everyoneâs time.
Now for the meal, which once again had a great flavor, but contained technical errors, especially regarding the steaks and drinks.
I started with an extra dry Martini using the house vodka, it was like drinking water, no flavor. My second was made with Tito Vodka and it was a great improvement over the first.
My First Course was a delicious Caesar Salad.
My Second Course was their Baked Oysters with Spinach, Bacon and Gouda cheese, their version of Oysters Rockefeller. For me this was the highlight of the meal. Others had the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and Mozzarella Sticks. The Mozzarella Sticks were under cooked and did not have a crisp crust.
For the Entrée three of us had the 12oz Grilled prime N.Y. Steak with a red Wine demi-glaze on a bed of Wild Mushroom Risotto and a side of Asparagus with Roasted Red Peppers. All agreed that the dish was delicious, but all the steaks were over cooked. I requested a medium rare stake, and I got a medium well.
We took the Desert of Home Made Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake to go. When we got home and opened the container, they provided a perfect way to describe the meal, delicious but inconsistent in preparation.
A word about the service once we got seated. Kiara B. was our waitress, and she appeared quickly to take our drink orders and then service went into slow motion. She checked on us once about halfway through the meal. It seemed like she spent most of her time at her station entering data. I donât think that Kiara was the entire problem, more likely it was the same problem they had last time, severely understaffed.
In summary, I wouldnât go there on special dates like Valentineâs Day, Easter or Xmas. I will be going back, but on a...
Read moreI placed an order for the shrimp ala Nineteen, a 1/4 lb cheeseburger with fries, and a 7 oz cheeseburger.
The $17 shrimp was maybe a half portion and that is being generous. Each shrimp was cut completely in half to make it appear as if there were more and they were rubbery. The asparagus risotto hardly had any asparagus in it at all. This dish was not even close to being worth the price.
The $5 cheeseburger was ordered plain and I had to pay an additional $2.50 for the fries. My son took one bite and wouldn't eat any more. I tried a bite of it and I wouldn't have eaten it either. The patty was thin and dry because it was severely overcooked and was flattened out to fit the same size bun as the 7 oz burger.
The $11 burger was ordered medium with lettuce, onion, tomato, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and provolone cheese. I received it plain with american cheese. Once again the patty was cooked well done. What is the point of asking how you want the burger if they are just going to cook it well done and ignore your requested toppings anyway?
Then there was the bill. Let's break it down, shall we? $17(shrimp) + $11(7 oz burger) + $5(1/4 lb burger) + $2.50(fries) = $35.50. Add the 6.75% sales tax and the total should be $37.90. My total came to over $44. After looking at the fine print, there was a 20% surcharge because the order was placed for pickup. What am I paying 20% for? Is it for the effort of walking the order down to my car? Ordinarily this surcharge wouldn't bother me... much. But it is currently illegal for people to dine in because of the latest executive order released by Gov. Cooper. Taking advantage of the fact that people can't dine in and continuing to charge 20% is completely immoral.
I will not be ordering from here again. If you like the menu and want food that is actually worth what is being charged, I suggest you try Village Cafe instead. If you are looking for a burger, save some money and go to Hwy 55. It's cheaper and the food is better. If you are looking for a higher quality burger, try Jebby's. It's about the same price, but their burgers are...
Read moreI would like to start off by saying we were trying to be honest about our review about your restaurant, but your response was uncalled for and rude. We spent $100 in your restaurant and you want to tell me âSorry this is not a McDonaldâs.â You guys are like McDonaldâs in the sense you mess up food and your plates are plastic like their trays. My husband and I both ordered your rib-eye steaks, medium rare and we both got medium to medium well steaks. Our potatoes were barley warm and wilted (clearly frozen or old). Your âvegetableâ medley was composed primarily of frozen peas laid over wilted medallions of squash, zucchini, or cucumber (we couldnât tell which) and included chunks of HAM! That is some vegetable medley. I almost forgot, to mention that dousing the aforementioned veggies in salt and pepper still couldnât save it. We had 3 messed up alcoholic beverages. My husband ordered double a Makerâs Mark whiskey on the rocks. On the rocks does not mean a glass full of crushed ice and a touch of whiskey. It was so watered down that he did not even taste the whiskey. So, he ordered a single with no ice and your bartender barley gave him a shot. My drink was overly sweet. So maybe you want to turn that attitude back at yourself and teach your staff how to make proper drinks and food! Your âchefâ needs lessons. Finally, before getting all uppity about why we didnât complain⊠Neither of us are the type. We try to not make a fuss and not make our server (whom had an air cast on at the time) do any more than is necessary. She was the one bright spot of our experience. Maybe try harder to be less of an idiot next...
