Tailwind — Restaurant in North Carolina

I think Tailwind is also the bagel/coffee/breakfast place behind the restaurant portion.

If so, it was incredibly unhelpful. I had 15 minutes before needing to board my flight so went over and got a bottle of water. I was hungry, but strapped for time, so I asked how long a breakfast sandwich takes, to which they said 8 minutes. Thinking that could cut it close, I said I’ll just get a toasted bagel then. I grabbed the bagel from the front, already sliced and wrapped in cling wrap. $6.88 for both - steep but it’s an airport.

5 minutes later as the two employees are just talking by the register and the other one is cooking nearby, I asked how long for my bagel. They said only another minute. 8 minutes later my flight is being called and I see my bagel sitting in the toaster and can’t tell if it’s been pressed or not. I asked how much longer and he said a few more minutes (he wasn’t even the one cooking) and so I picked up my stuff and said, “Sorry. I have to catch a flight.” He said it’ll just be another minute, but I didn’t have another minute. I had to get on my plane and had already wasted 15 minutes waiting.

I didn’t mind the time or anything like that, I was just really put off by one employee clearly working and cooking and the other two doing nothing (one of them may have clicked the grind button on the coffee maker while chatting) while I was waiting on someone to click a button on a toaster. Tailwind in the renovated ILM Airport is reborn. First, hours are wrong on Maps. Deli opens at 5am. It's counter, made to order. Breakfast sandwiches are worth the airport price. They cook up fast and use quality ingredients. And, what you'll remember after ordering here, is the happy, friendly service. Staff always greet with a smile and engage in discussion. This place is extremely under-rated on Google. The staff are great, the drinks are great, and the food is above average for airport food. I’ve been eating and drinking at Tailwinds since before the renovations and improvements and it’s a completely perfect location now - 3-years ago it was lacking, but the past year or so (since renovations) has been great.
