Was heading to another Hot Dog place when my GPS took me here, so thought I'd try it. Had 2 chili dogs & pickle fries. The chili sauce was very good and tasty. Plenty of onions without being overdone like in Hanover, Pennsylvania. That's where the good news stopped, though. The hot dog bun, although being toasted a bit was still a 2 or 3 day old bun. You can tell the difference between toasted & stale. The dog itself was hot, but did not appear as though it had touched the grill. It still had that "right out of the pack" color. Then came the fried pickles. If you could call these stale, that would fit. I never had to bite so hard to get through a fried pickle. To say it had a crunch would not be correct. It had a strength and was difficult to penetrate. I pride myself as a Hot Dog aficionado, so unfortunately, this place is NOT the king. Apparently I need something...

They ended up with a small rush as I arrived, probably 10 or 12 orders, some people got their food to go, some stayed. Nobody seemed to wait more than about 5 minutes or so. I ordered 2 house special dogs, with slaw, and two onion rings and a sweet tea. I got my drink, sat down, scrolled through my phone for a minute and then my food arrived.
The dogs were hot, and tasted great and fulfilling. The bun was a bit toasted and the slaw and chili were great. The onion rings were fresh, tasted great, not too done, not too light, they were scrumptious.
Overall, for a TINY yet comfortable little "oddball" restaurant, it was really good, really enjoyable, and I will likely be...
Read morePlaced an order for 4 people over the phone. we were missing 2 items from our order, and a 3rd item wasn't correct. The manager on the phone got an attitude with me because she didn't ring up one of the items we were missing. In her words, "well I know I put the onion rings in the bag, you didn't pay for 2". I clearly told her at the end of placing my order oh were supposed to have 2 orders of onion rings, she said ok I'll add it. So now we've wasted an extra trip for 3 of her mistakes.
We usually go to Hotdog World in Hendersonville but didn't want to drive that far today. Definitely will make the extra drive to Hotdog World. Not only is Hot Dog King''s customer service rude, their food is just ok.
I usually leave good reviews for places we try, this is the...
