Walked in the cafe looking forward to carrot cake after a nice lunch. My lunch was good, the person who served me was pleasant and I tipped her 20%
Then I went up to get a slice of carrot cake and a piece of pie for my mama. Unlike my first server this new server acted so annoyed to do her job that it really put a damper on the entire experience. It's unfortunate -- the reason I am coming to this over priced little bakery is as a special treat ... to pay $20 for a couple of desserts is about the experience as much as it is about the food and her sour attitude just leaves me wishing I had gone to a different cafe. Because of her attitude I didn't tip her.
Nearly every time we come to this location we experience lousy service from some of the most sour annoyed counter staff. It appears systemic at this location. However, the Biltmore location has an awesome staff that seems to understand that treating patrons with courtesy and professionalism is part of what customers are paying for.
When I sat down with my slice of cake, I found a white hair baked into the cake. So I went back up to the counter to show them the problem, and ask for a new piece. Instead of responding with an apology or any sort of professionalism, I got a blank stare, and she asked the guy standing next to her behind the counter to give me a new slice. She didn't actually say a word to me.
He walked down to the cake, put it on a plate, handed it to me and said "there ya go". So ... apparently customers that want hair free food are just a nuisance. Honestly I was stunned how uncaring the staff appears to be about the quality of service or food.
It's a darn shame -- the food is usually very good, certainly much better than...
Read moreCame here on the anniversary of the last time I was here with my bff before she was killed in a crash in 2014. In her memory I got the lemon creme cake to go and I enjoyed the blueberry creme while sipping a yummy chai latte (also her favorite) and reading a book outside. I think it’s always busy no matter what day or time of day I go. Everything is delicious though and the line was flowing with multiple people working the counter for orders and ringing up. This wouldn’t be my “go to” for a coffee shop just because it’s more busy than cozy, but everything is tasty and I’ve met friends in here for planning meetings before so it is conducive for that since usually other people inside are doing the same 😄 recommendations are the blueberry creme slice and chai...
Read moreI work just down the road from the Reems Creek food truck. These folks are awesome. I average about once a once a week lunch from here. I’m never disappointed. They are friendly and “know” me at this point. It always makes me feel special when they greet me. The food is on point. (That’s a good thing for folks that don’t know) Also, the folks that make all the magic happen are down to earth, friendly, and welcoming. I also eat at the downtown Weaverville location and it’s standard across the board with service and flavor. It’s a consistent business employing consistent people with multiple locations. You can tell the business culture is solid and doesn’t waiver. I would highly recommend. Thanks to the Well Bread team for all you do!!!!! I’m proud to...
