Locals Restaurant & Pub — Restaurant in North Hampton

This review is strictly about the atmosphere of the place. We didn't eat anything and never interacted with any staff. I debated about leaving anything here but decided it might be helpful to folks who, like us, have trouble with super noisy places/ places with a bunch of blaring TVs. I figure two stars is fair since we didn't actually try the food.

We weren't looking for anything special, just a quick bite to eat on the way home a couple of towns away.

There's a board with "please seat yourself" written on it. Okey dokey, off we went to find a seat. From the moment we rounded the corner away from the entrance and toward the tables/booths, it was loud. Especially for a restaurant that that was not at all busy or crowded. The bar to the left of us may have had quite a few patrons watching the Patriots game but the dining area only had one table seated with four people.

We made a beeline for the table farthest away from the bar and TVs. It was still really loud. I mean have-to-lean-across-your-table-to-hear-each-other-speak loud. Like, approaching live-music loud. And you couldn't really get that far away from the TVs because there's a big ol' equally loud one in the dining area, as well.

Really, from what we could tell, the entire restaurant is a sports bar. If there is a separate, quieter dining area, we would never know about it because there was no one there to show us to it.

We left after 5-10 minutes, apparently without any of the staff even knowing we had ever been there. We ended up at another place that also had people excitedly watching the Pat's game in the bar. In fact, we sat right next to the open door between the bar and the dining room but could actually hear each other speak and had a good meal so all's well that ends well.

To each their own. If some local sports fans enjoy Locals, more power to them.

I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is noise sensitive or who isn't super-duper...

Locals had been recommended to us by friends so we decided to go check it out tonight for dinner and we're quite glad we did. It's never easy to decide what you'd like for dinner and at Locals the menu makes it even harder as everything sounds like it would be really good. We started with the Philly egg rolls, tender steak and onions in an egg roll with cheese sauce, definitely a must try. I had the wicked good chicken with mashed potatos and Mac and cheese, my wife had the chicken parm sandwich with sweet potato fries. Our friends had the pulled pork burrito and a salad. First let me say the portions are very generous and the reviews from everyone at the table were good. My chicken was very tender, the BBQ sauce tasty. The mashed potatoes whipped perfectly and the Mac and cheese very good. The staff was very friendly and attentive and provided excellent service. They have a very large bar and a fair amount of seating. We will be going back soon to try some of the other menu offerings.

Wanted to add an update, I had taken home leftovers, including the mac and cheese which when I went to eat had stuck to the bottom of the take home container. Unfortunately the cardboard peeled off the container and stuck to the Mac and cheese. If you have leftovers, transfer them to something else when...

Formerly Spuds, this is now a bar & grill with sports entertainment. 🎯 Dartboard and both a golf ⛳ video game and golf virtual room where you can hit a golf ball and a video screen shows the results of your swing. It was interesting to watch and I don't even play golf. No, a gopher didn't pop out of the ground and Bill Murray didn't walk across the screen! The service was great! Very friendly hostess'. I think they were also the bartenders. Food was good, but, it has what my friend, who use to manage bars, says, just the basics for those who drink. The presentation of my orders I will give high marks. I had the Philly Steak Egg Rolls for an appetizer. Not bad. Dinner was Tuscan Chicken with rice pilaf and Ceaser salad 🥗. Only issues, my phone 📱 couldn't access the WiFi and the place is loud. They had the music 🎶 turned down but everyone still talked loudly. An issue beyond the control of the staff. Bathroom was in good shape but had a strong smell. Need a better air freshener. They were able to process my Restaurant.com certificate. I will return. Hopefully, it won't...
