Unfortunately, we will not be recommending or returning to Traditions after our last experience. Although it tastes very good, I have a bad reaction to the seasoning they use on the grilled chicken (migraines, tachycardia, and stomach pain) so I always ask the server to stress to the cook to not put seasoning on it. The chicken was brought to the table with seasoning, which happens sometimes when it's busy, so I politely asked for another chicken breast and was fine with waiting for it. The server apologized and said she would have them make another one. She returned to the table within 2 minutes with a chicken breast, set it in front of me quickly, and said "You're in luck. They had another one already cooked..." and very quickly walked away.
I took a bite and realized it had seasoning on it. They had scraped the seasoning off the original piece and returned it to the table. If I had been allergic to the seasoning this could have been a life-threatening situation. I explained to the manager that I wasn't being picky. I have a bad reaction to whatever is in the seasoning and didn't think it was unreasonable to order it without. The manager apologized and removed only the chicken breast from the bill and charged us for the broccoli and salad I ordered. We're extremely disappointed with the actions of the staff and lack of concern from the manager. People have reasons for special orders and it's not always due to...
Read moreService was great. Wide variety on menu. Disappointed to not get juice with breakfast since I ordered a platter and didn't realize it came with it. Lots of fresh bakery items. Pie and cake and cookies and gobs/whoopie pies. Feature for breakfast was pumpkin pancakes. Also had pumpkin roll and pumpkin cheesecake. Will cut slices or you can buy the whole thing. There was a bit of a wait but well worth it. They are busy on Saturdays and don't typically take reservations. They are closed on Sundays. Parking area is ample. The store downstairs is huge. Deceptive in size. The gift store side is much larger than you can see from upstairs. Have items like boxes of cards, soaps, lotions, canvas art, things you used to see in hometown pharmacies... They have tons on Carhart items and good shoes/boots in various sizes. Many kids clothes and shoes too. John Deere items. Have half slips for under $10 for the ladies and lots of cute toys for kids, many Doug and Melissa brand. Totally recommend a stop here!! Seasonal patio available for outdoor seating. Dutch...
Read moreIt's a nice, open, and warm environment with delicious meals, treats, and beverages. There is a huge gift shop, too!
I recommend getting an early head start to Traditions depending on your location, and checking the times before you go. It took us a long time to get there, so breakfast was over but nonetheless their afternoon/evening meals were delicious and fresh! They have a huge gift shop and it's perfect for people of different religions, too. Amish ladies and their kids can shop, get new clothes, threads, etc., but it's also nice for people who are not Amish, too. You don't have to eat their to go to the shop, so there's a bonus. I believe there are two entrances. :)
The only negative is the price, so be careful if you're wanting to save money. But with the portion sizes, I think it is worth it in the end.
So, depending on your region I would check their times, online menu, and reviews. Give them a try! It's definitely worth it. If you have kids and live far off, bring fun entertainment for the car...
