born and raised in hawaii and moving here i always heard of this place. passed it to and from XO market shopping. but this day i returned from a flight from guam on business. it was rainy and wanted to dine at Java Joes but was blocked by CUC utility trucks and police traffic control at it's entrance for repairs...it was very windy, rainy Saturday morning flight...flight attendants had to stay seated for entire flight from guam/saipan because of pilot's orders and bad weather...everyone's dishes that passed by looked really good and atmosphere pleasant but clean. however, service is slightly quicker than my experience at himawari. himawari greeted customers entering unlike this place. but once inside, getting an order in himawari next to impossible because they were so busy. J's had customers in all the booths and front counter...middle tables not so much...i ordered steak/eggs over easy/fried rice wife wanted longanisa and garlic fried rice...but it took 10 minutes after the initial order for the waitress to tell me no steaks this day...they were out...i asked to substitute steak with plain hamburger steak med/rare like for my steak...she took the order and later brought our order. i guess i didn't pay attention [egg not eggs because i thought i read steak and eggs (plural)] also hamburger was well done beyond medium, maybe due to health regulations no medium-rare burgers sold as ordered, plus covered in gravy that wouldn't be poured on a steak in original order. 1 thing i learned from cctv and youtube videos is NEVER send back a mistaken order back to a cook/chef in a restaurant. you don't know what may happen after complaining of someone's cooking or possibly mistakenly interpreted order not written down on paper for verification. personally i cannot remember a phone # told to me 1 minute beforehand. after removing majority of unordered gravy drowning my 'steak' i could use A-1 & ketchup...it could have been an off day for this restaurant but majority of customers looked local...i probably looked like a tourist being part hawaiian/mostly asian. the crispy pata others ordered remains to be eaten at later date and...
Read moreThe server/waiters were inattentive if our table needed a refill of water the facility was not full. There were only four dining tables taken which included ours....I had to step away from the table because of an important phone call. When I returned to eat my boys complained that they were thirsty. The water on our tables were not refilled. There were now only two, us & another family, dining tables with customers left by now. A waiter finally only assisted us while we were preparing to make payment... If you are reluctant and cautions about coming into face-face contact with your customers. Please leave a full pitcher of water on the table with the customer to self-serve.
On the contrary, it's a great family oriented restaurant with a lot of variety of American/Filipino Dishes to choose from. It's an open kitchen space concept style along miny bar stool counter tops. So there are no private room available J's has two cranes and a car racer arcade that the kids can play on to kill time till your orders are served. The portions sizes and prices are reasonable ranging from least price of $6.75-$15.00 (USD). The maximum wait time was 25 to 30 minutes upon ordering.

Read moreJ’s may not be the most mind-blowing, enthusiastically divine restaurant that Saipan can offer, but it is still good enough to excel as an average diner.
Everything in this place is not too bad, nor not too good. The ambience and design is mediocre with some outdated, low-quality menus and so-so lighting, the customer service does its job well with nothing too outstanding, and the food is just okay. Rice is fine, the spicy chicken is alright. It was crispy, though the distribution in spiciness wasn’t too great and the meat itself was lacking in flavor and seasoning. Other than that, not much complaints here.
In layman’s terms, I wouldn’t exactly discourage anyone from coming here, it’s just that from my experience, J’s...
