We go to Johnsons often and enjoy the food and service. Sadly my recent experience left me very upset. We went for dinner. We both ordered The fish and chips, which I have had in the past. I'm CAUTIONING anyone who orders this to be aware. If you change the order and ask for a side salad in addition to your fish and chips , you will only get the fish and salad. No chips. Waitress did not tell us this and it is not stated on the menu. Only thing it states is salad is an additional$2. We were offered some French fries of we wanted, but have a feeling we would have been charged an additional fee for those. We paid$18 for fish and chips meal, for which we only recieved fried fish, paid an additional$2 for salad. I'm appalled that Waitress did not tell us that if we ordered salad with this meal, you didn't get the whole meal, which we wanted. In other restaurants if they do something like this, they tell you right up front. So we paid$18 for a piece of fish ,so then we thought, they won't charge the $2 as we didn't get the full meal . No, we got charged the$2 as well. When we discussed this with Waitress her response was she didn't make the menu, and a lot of people get upset when they order this meal the way we did. I Have a "Tip" for the restaurant and Waitress, how about v INFORMING the customer!!!! We did talk with one of the managers, she said they do it this way because some people don't want the starch when they order the salad. I have another TIP for the restaurant, SOME people WANT the starch with the meal and again, communicating with your customer can save a LOT...
Read moreDeeply saddened by our experience today. We have been patrons here for 10 plus years. Unfortunately mistakes happen and our scollops were bad. We discretely let our server know. They took just the scollops off our platter. We were saddened that we paid for an entire plate when half of it was bad. My husband didn’t feel comfortable finishing the rest given the condition of the scollops.
We then paid our bill and decided to call into a manager on the main line to ensure the scollops were noted so no other customers experienced what we did. The dining room manager was unaware of what happened. After we tried to explain, she was condescending and was treating us like we were trying to get something for free on the phone. She would not let us finish what we were saying or listen to the fact we were coming from a good place. We cared about this establishment and wanted to help them improve. After this experience, we will no longer come here. She really should listen to a customers concerns and better their experience. Her negative approach was not beneficial to the situation and unfortunately deterred us from...
Read moreMy server Dawn deserves 5 stars. She was attentive and brings the bad news with a smile. The establishment....where do I start. My friend brought me here and has been coming here for years. This was my first time.
So for starters. They were out of some food. Lobster and chowder. It happens. No big deal. Onion rings were not an option unless you ordered them separate. For $10. That's more than an appetizer.
On to my beer samples. Northwoods make excellent beer. I tried a dark, lager, pilsner, and ipa. Excellent. Triple IPA I was not allowed to sample on the flite. In fact I wasn't even allowed to sample before ordering. I've never experienced that in any craft brewery from California to Maine. So no triple IPA for me.
My experience was disappointing. I didn't get what I wanted to eat or what I wanted to drink. The experience was that if I didn't have a friend with me I would have not ordered anything. Not because they were out but for $10 onion rings and hoarding the triple IPA.
I'm a big craft brew fan. And I'm only one guy with no influence. But there's plenty of less stingy places to get a beer. These...
