My husband and I were in the area for our anniversary. It was the last night of a good, but long, weekend. We were hungry, it was late, and there weren't many options on the way back to our AirBnB. I searched along our route and saw "Old Homestead Tavern" listed as a bar and grill. Perfect. So we pulled in and began walking to the door. There were people outside playing cornhole and good music was playing on the speakers. I began to think this was more "bar" than "grill." Upon getting to the door, our IDs were checked and wrists were stamped. Definitely a bar, and I began to wonder if they actually served food. I needn't have worried. The two wet burritos we ordered were made quickly, and they were delicious. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican dish, it's not for you. But if you're hungry and in the mood for good drinks, good music, and friendly service, this is the place. When I asked if they had dessert, our server said, "Not really, but we have pudding shots." Intrigued, we ordered one of each of the nine flavors and headed back to our AirBnB. And ohmygod those pudding shots were divine. The only slight hiccup of our experience was that when we approached the bar to pay, I noticed a "Cash Only" sign. Uh oh, we didn't have cash. The bartender pointed out an ATM behind us and we were quickly on our way. It's worth mentioning that the ATM only had a $2 fee, which is pretty unusually in a bar.
The short of it is: good food, good prices, great drinks, and friendly service. Just be sure to bring cash or be prepared to...
Read moreIt started as a joyous evening out with our family. The waitress was very nice. She checked our IDs as we ordered drinks. We played a couple games of pool and ordered a 2nd round along with our dinner. We were suddenly approached by a young lady that said she needed to scan our IDs. "We had already shown our IDs" I told her and asked her why she required to scan everyone's ID? She replied, "because my boss told me to." All of us had an agreement that was simply not an adequate reason and we said "no." Our food we ordered was on it's trays ready to be served. Again, we are approached by an individual. This time, wearing an earpiece like Mr. Smith from the Matrix movie and a walkie-talkie on his waistline. He demanded to scan our IDs and we respectfully declined and repeated our previous question, "why?" No real answer was given. It was, you either scan your ID or you need to leave! This establishment is requiring everyone present on the premises to scan their identification. There were other elderly couples that declined and were forced to leave as well. It is unfortunate, but we will no longer be supporting this business as it continues to practice infringements upon...
Read moreI was in shock when officers approached me for a "complaint" here:
I was talking on my phone to a friend (unrelated to anything or anyone at the bar - Stocks and Crypto) Someone listening to what I was saying on my phone- to my friend: They made it as a personal attack to "them" and made a false police report.
So as I was about to order a second drink; they or the bar called the cops on me, and the cops escorted me in pretense of being charged with "trespassing". (no report of merit, proof to suggest, or witnesses of truth). I am barred or banned from this place. Which in my opinion: The place is doing me favor, so I wouldn't become a "regular" part of the crowd.
I should, but don't want to spend "my time" or "my money" by suing the establishment: On the grounds of discrimination of "creed". Instead - This is their reward on yelp and google too. Update: More to the "experience", I got a hold of the police department - My "crime": On the speaker phone outside of the bar; which a patron was "threaten" by my "presence" there: That's "creed"- which "bothered" them.
Thank-you. I will let everyone know they "may not" be...
