This restaurant is presently named, el Rio.
Been here 3 times, and all have been great experiences!
El Rio has comfy and spacious booths, friendly waiters, and outstanding food. Once COVID-19 restrictions calm down a bit, they have tables to accommodate large parties.
Someone once told me that the best way to tell how well kept a restaurant's kitchen is, go to the restaurant's restroom. If they are attentive for a clean restroom, then it's a good sign they are also attentive for a clean kitchen.
At el Rio, the restroom is clean, and well stocked with toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.
If you're in the Fayetteville, WV area and you want some delicious Mexican food? Then, el Rio is where you need to go!
Besides the food, and service, el Rio also has a wonderful overall dining environment. The skeletons wearing sombreros, and playing guitars reminds me of the Coco movie from a few years ago. The murals are artistically well done.
Overall, a thumbs up on the decor, and the dining experience at el Rio!
I am not the only one that is a fan of el Rio, because the restaurant was at 50% occupancy (current COVID-19 restriction) the whole time my husband and I were there today. As people left, others immediately came. There was also a steady line of folks at the front to pick up...
Read moreThis is simply bad food. We went because we got to town late and it was one of the only places open. It had good reviews but I honestly don't understand how..
The meat had no flavor and I'm pretty sure it was from a can. No joke, it had that canned taste and no effort to even cover it up or braise it in sauce or anything.
We ordered bean dip and our waiter brought out what looked like queso. We didn't care because we were starving and who doesn't like queso right?? Well, it turned out that it was queso poured on top of beans. Not a bad concept, beans with queso on top, except their queso is so watered down that we had some sort of soupy cheese sauce with a couple spoonfuls of beans at the bottom. I mean, it's just strange.
The portions are skimpy compared to the average Mexican restaurant. The margarita tasted like it had zero tequila in it.
Seriously just not good. I don't get why people eat here and actually enjoy it.
The staff was friendly and prompt service. However I will say I asked about an item and was told it came a certain way and it came out not at all what was described. Again, ok I will eat whatever...

The place was mostly empty when we went (3pm on a wednesday) We were seated immediately, and was given excellent attention from our waiter.
The food was excellent, fresh looking food and the food was played with care. I had the fajitas and it was both sizzling and delicious. The lunch portions are available all day long (for a $2 up charge outside lunch hours) which provide a nice sized portion for those not wanting a heap of food.
My only complaint was with the guacamole that was served with the chips. It didn't have the fresh green glow I was expecting, but rather a more dull faded green instead. Still tasted ok, but not that Lime-fresh we were expecting.
You pay at the front counter where you can purchase small candies (this was a hit with the kiddos)
