Not wanting another fast food burger, The Hubs and I thought we'd give the OK Chinese Buffet a shot... The buffet offered a variety of dishes including pork egg rolls, crab rangoon, fried cheese, wontons, general tso chicken, sweet & sour chicken, fried rice, chicken & broccoli, chicken wings, spring rolls, and many more. A basic salad selection was offered (iceberg lettuce, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, eggs, dressing, etc.) as well as a nice variety of fruits and desserts (orange wedges, pears, peaches, mandarin oranges, chocolate & vanilla puddings, jello, cakes, cream puffs, and ice cream).
Overall, the buffet was above average. Some of the dishes were not super fresh (like perhaps fresh was mixed in with what was still left), but others were quite good. The rangoon was actually very tasty as were the egg rolls.
If you need gluten free options, there are not a lot of options here. They do not offer plain steamed rice on the buffet, but when I asked about it, the buffet attendant immediately brought a bowl out for me. I usually rely on the hibachi for other options, but this buffet does not offer a hibachi. Given how quickly they were to accommodate my rice request, it's possible they would also accommodate a request for some veggies without sauce, but everything with veggies on the buffet was mixed with one sauce or another.
Service was quick and efficient. Drinks were refilled quickly and plates were cleared away immediately.
Both restrooms were clean and well stocked. Bonus points for this as nothing is worse than a dirty restaurant restroom!
You'll definitely leave the buffet feeling full AND like you got a great deal.... Our meal was priced fairly at $6.45... not too much out there that could compete with...
Read moremy friends and I stopped in after a long day of hiking at the new river gorge and immediately were surprised to pay up front when you usually pay after you eat at a buffet. I thought this was to prevent dine and dashing, however upon seeing the buffet I know it was because most people would walk out if they knew it was that small. The reason for the bad review isn't that though, it is because of half of the about 7-10 options they had half of them were not cooked right or tasted weird. It was past 8pm so maybe we were getting the leftovers but that is not acceptable. Sauteed mushrooms and chicken and broccoli were good as well as the donuts, but the chicken on a stick and cheese wontons were dry and not good tasting at all and the shrimp I did not even try a second bite because something was off about how it tasted.. maybe freezer burnt or just off that I was scared to finish it. They only charged 10-11$ but still they need to have more options to be a buffet. I read a review that said they had signs saying they had limited options? Maybe put...
Read moreWARNING: A LOT OF FOOD!! My husband and I ordered two orders of general tsos chicken and upon receiving our bag of food, were quick to discover we should share just one order and keep the other for tomorrow. WE COULDNT EVEN FINISH. We hardly put a dent in it and we are BIG eaters and had a ravenous appetite from traveling.
It was all AMAZING. Lo mein was GREAT (not just spaghetti noodles like some places — it’s legit lo mein), tsos chicken super hot + fantastic (the container nearly burned our lap eating in the car without the car on, in a winter storm with jeans on), and the cheese wontons are s c r u m p t i o u s.
Dirt cheap (we could’ve catered a fricken party for $30) and amazing taste.
We’ll be back next time we’re...
