F.A.T.S BBQ — Restaurant in Oak Ridge

I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt the need to do one on this establishment. I’ll start by saying I am a huge fan for down home true BBQ and am admittedly picky with it as well due to being let down by previous promises of real BBQ. When I got told about this place I knew I had to check it out, and my husband, kiddo and I did just that today. Not only were they super friendly and sociable with us, but my kiddo (who’s 2.5) liked getting to meet them and was happy to be included in the friendly interaction. Now onto the food. I got The Melvin sandwich and when I say that I got more than I bargained for I’m not joking. The sandwich alone was phenomenal in every detail and has been made into two meals for me, plus the mac and cheese and potato salad were beyond delicious. My husband got the chicken mac bowl and he said he’s never had anything taste quite as good as the combination of flavors that he experienced in his meal, he also raved about the mac and cheese and potato salad (our daughter is a mac and cheese expert and she stole most of our mac and cheese sides haha). We loved everything about this place even for the short time we visited; the people, the food, it’s all very worth the money. We received so much food and we only paid $40, it was the two meals, two additional sides per meal, and I got a 5 count of their garlic Parmesan wings (cause who says no to fresh smoked delicious wings on Wing Wednesday), every bit of it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, surprisingly there were not a lot of BBQ options in town. The hot dog was to die for and the nachos were delicious from here and the beans. The only thing I’m disappointed about was the fact they used canned cheese for their Mac and cheese. The spices in the Mac and cheese through were spot on - very different. This is some of the best BBQ in the area! I've tried the pulled chicken, the pulled pork, the smoked bologna and the mac and cheese bowl and it is all awesome! The perfect balance of smoky, spicy, and sweet. Melvin and PJ make their own sauces fresh in house. And don't plan on leaving hungry because the portions are good! Save room for some banana pudding...
