First time had the Double Joeys Original with fries.

Fries are fresh cut and superior to frozen food service fries.

While still delish, they were not hot, it was the lunch rush and with the lack of crispness, they may have been sitting for a while, will request well done next time.

The burger had the classic smash griddle crust, was fresh beef, nice size, almost too big for my lunch but I was up for a challenge.

It came with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and special sauce.

The bun held up wonderfully, the burger was a bit over seasoned which could have been countered with the special sauce, but there wasn’t that much for a double patty, the tomato was very small and with the tomato and sauce being on the bottom of the bun under the lettuce, I was surprised how well the bun held up.

Putting the lettuce on the bottom then tomato and sauce will help that bottom bun survive even better.

Price was fine for the burger with fries, 13.50.

Will update review and photos as I work my way through a majority of this menu.

———-

Just tried the California Burger and well done fries and it was delicious, the fries were more crispy and it has more sauce than before which was perfect.

Saw some allocated bourbons at the bar, was a nice find to see Weller 12 and Full Proof but I was scared to ask the price from a previous review who paid 30.00 per shot of Buffalo Trace which can be found for that price per bottle but many of the bottles including Eagle Rare and Blanton’s are much harder to come these days.

———

Tried the burger with goat cheese and pepper jelly and it was amazing!

The goat cheese was the highlight and it’s locally sourced.

Also had the rad fries for 2.00 more as a side and it comes with fried onions, joey sauce and cheese, if you know about In n Out Burger these reminded me of animal fries 🍟 and they were off the chain !!!!

They do to go now and that’s what we tried and it was still good when we got home about 15 min later, the to go boxes have holes in them to vent steam out.

Have also done the western burger and it again exceeded expectations.

When McDonalds cost just as much as this it’s a no brainer to go to Joey’s!

Once again, I feel there alcohol is all over the board, I have been getting Jim Beam and cokes for 6.00 for quite sometime and the last time I was there she charged me 8.00 each.

Water it will be...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 - The Epitome of Burger Perfection at Joey’s Burger Bar! 🍔

If you haven’t yet experienced the culinary marvel that is Joey’s Burger Bar in Oak Ridge, NC, do yourself a favor and clear your schedule—this is not just a meal; it’s an experience.

From the moment you step inside this hallowed establishment, you're greeted with an atmosphere that is a perfect blend of small-town charm and burger bar royalty. The décor? A nostalgic, retro fusion that somehow feels both timeless and ahead of its time. It’s as if the spirit of all the greatest burger joints in history combined forces and decided to settle in Oak Ridge.

Now, let’s talk burgers. Oh, my friends, THE BURGERS. If there were a Michelin star for burgers, Joey’s would have an entire constellation. Every patty is a masterpiece, freshly ground and grilled to perfection with that perfect crispy sear on the outside while remaining juicy and tender on the inside. The toppings? Forget your typical lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Here, they elevate each burger with creative, mouthwatering additions that have you wondering why no one thought of this combination before.

The Joey’s Special is nothing short of a revelation. A beef patty that could cause a food epiphany, stacked high with melted cheese that drips like it’s doing a slow dance, caramelized onions that whisper sweet nothings to your taste buds, and a secret sauce that I can only describe as a magical elixir from burger heaven. You’ll think about it long after your meal ends—and let’s be real, you’ll likely be back for another round within the week.

And don’t even get me started on the fries. Golden, crispy, and perfectly salted. They’re so good, you’ll be tempted to skip the burger entirely just to make room for more fries. But I urge you: don’t you dare.

The staff? They’re not just employees—they’re burger magicians in human form. You’ll feel like family the minute you walk in, as they greet you with a smile that makes you wonder if you’ve just walked into the happiest place on earth. You’re not just another customer here—you’re part of the Joey’s Burger Bar experience.

To sum it up, Joey’s Burger Bar in Oak Ridge isn’t just a place to eat. It’s where food dreams come true. A burger so good, it makes you believe in love at first bite. A hidden gem that no one should miss. Get there. Eat. Rejoice. And...

HEADLINE: Joey’s Burger Bar does not disappoint! HISTORY: We met Joey and he explained that he and Pepe are brothers-in-law and they are the owners of Rio, Joey’s and Pizza Gusto. THE PLACE: Joey’s is in the original Rio Grande location. The remodel has really opened up the dining area. The huge, full bar is still there but it’s brighter. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. They have a lot of TVs and I’m sure when games are on, that place is cranking. For lunch the vibe is laidback. THE EXPERIENCE: We were warmly greeted and since it was after lunch, we were offered our choice of a table or booth/table combo. Ritha was our server. She was so calm, self assured and well trained, which is a real treat at a brand new restaurant. We both ordered the Joey’s Original Double, as it comes and our sides were fries and we upgraded to the beer batter onion rings. The onion rings passed the single bite test (onion didn’t pull out on the first bite) so I loved them. Hubs loved the salt and pepper fries. The burger was held together with a fancy skewer that also had a tiny cherry pepper on it - cute and tasty! The burger was HUGE and I had to take several bites before I “hit the goods”. The meat was smashed to perfection, it was juicy, had crispy edges and tasted great. I’m not a stranger to double burgers but this one almost beat me. The reason? The double has two 1/4 lb patties. Don’t worry, I pushed through but next time I’ll stick with the single. Hubs will stay with the half pounder double. We really liked that the onions on the burger were grilled rather than raw. It had iceberg lettuce (Yay!), tomato, pickles and some special sauce. All on a challah bun which was excellent. Everything worked really well together. We will be back and wish them the best. Please give them a try.

Update Went to Joey’s again and discovered they now offer hotdogs! The chili was good, the slaw was a rough cut but good, the steamed bun was perfect. The star of the show was the all beef Sabrett hotdog. It has a yummy, rich, beefiness. We also tried the BBQ burger. It was very good. The condiments are very rich so the extra patty would be ideal. I’m also showing a takeout order of the cheese curds. These reheated well and were fantastic! The price was very reasonable, considering the large portion. It’s so great to have...

I arrived at 7:33pm on a Wednesday to celebrate my son’s birthday. It was recommended by a Yelp buddy. I could smell the food from the parking lot, which is a good sign. Inside, we were seated promptly. At 7:37pm, a young, friendly waiter came over. I don’t believe he said his name but per the receipt, his name was Tommy C. He was great! My son even committed on his customer service. We ordered waters. My son eagerly let him know it was his birthday. The waiter told my son he would have a treat at the end if he was still hungry. At 7:46pm I ordered a small cheese curds to hold my son and I over until my sister arrived. The cheese curds arrived at 7:50pm. They were so delicious and very cheesy. My son showed me various cheese pulls. My son ate them with the ranch it came with and I ate them with ketchup. At 8:05pm, my sister finally arrived. She got a water and I ordered a sweet tea for myself and a pink lemonade for my son. We ordered entrees at 8:12pm. My son got the single Texas burger without lettuce and fries. I got the double Texas burger without lettuce and sweet potato fries. My sister ended up not getting anything. The food came at 8:19pm, which was surprisingly quick! The onion rings on the burger wasn’t very good. It was hard vs the perfect crisp. Thai indicates that it may not had been fresh. I wish the bacon was crispier than it was. I enjoyed my sweet potato fries for the most part. Some of them were overcooked. This plus the cheese curds filled me up. At 8:45pm, I myself ordered small (kids) cookie butter shake. Although I was full, I wanted to try it) and customizations of my son’s treat. My son treat with a chocolate sundae with chocolate chips. My son’s treat came before mine (which was fine). He enjoyed it and left zero drops lol. My shake tastes fine. There was too much whip cream. There is a separate side for the bar which is a nice separation to suite all types of customers. While leaving, I noticed a sign that had a few special including $.99 wings on Wednesday, which was the day I visited. The waiter didn’t inform me of specials and it wasn’t included on the menu. Had I known, I would’ve gotten some as part of my app as I love wings. We enjoyed ourselves and I would return :)
