We decided to try this place because it was close to our house. I somewhat regret not reading the reviews prior to going... Let me start by saying that our server was really sweet, she was pretty attentive and patient with my class-clown friends. The only weird thing was that, she had been good about checking on us until it was time for the last person to get their food. We waited for a bit, but she only seemed to realize it until we finally said something about the wait. All the other food prior came out timely. The food itself is subpar for the price. The sushi isn't bad (I would recommend the temaki options) but everything else we tried was just meh. For 4 tiny fried gyoza, it's $8 ... For the yakisoba and teppan, it all costs $16+ for not a whole lot of quality food. I wish I had taken a photo of the food, honestly. I swear my friend's chicken filet was less than 3oz. It looked like they either hammered the chicken flat, or they cut one larger breast in half to save on cost. Either way, it was dry. The chicken in the yakisoba was dry too, and the noodles themselves only tasted like sesame seed oil. The miso soup is pretty big though, I'll give them that. It was certainly the biggest serving of soup I've seen from a Japanese-inspired place, but miso soup is also cheap/easy to make so... I can't say I'm all too impressed. I wasn't going to complain to the waitress but at the end of the meal, she asked for my honest opinion. I gave it, just as I'm giving here...Btw, to the owners/management: You should consider lowering your prices a little for the amount of food you're serving. Also, consider smaller plates because it was laughable to see that small amount of food on a gigantic plate. Perhaps you should reevaluate your strengths and focus solely on sushi. I'm not saying that the chefs in there don't have potential but based on the entire experience, we won't be going back there. Thanks for the free pickled cucumber salad for it being our first (and last)...
Read moreSo I'll start off by saying the food is delicious, and the service is amazing, but for me... I don't know, it's just not worth it for the portions I get. I really wish the portions were bigger I'd be here every week without question. I got three sashimi salmon, and three sashimi white fish, which lets face it, it's not that expensive a fish but three sashimi slices of salmon comes to $10.50 and three sashimi slices of white fish which also came to $10.50. I don't mind paying the price for good sashimi but these portions are so small, It is possible a mistake was made I don't know if it's suppose to be three slices per order or if it's just one slice per order, but when I say these are small slices they are tiny they are smaller than the mini bic lighters you can purchase at a gas station ( for reference ) I've been to other sushi places in orlando and they give pretty generous portions for their sashimi but it's also because you are paying for the cut. I just can't bring myself to spend the money on the small portions when there are better options available, and it's a shame because it really is delicious food. I also ordered the shrimp tempura roll which comes with salmon on top, and the slices of salmon on top I was very impressed how thin they got this salmon, it was literally see thru, I wonder if maybe it was the last of the portion and the sushi chef didn't want to cut another portion of salmon so they sliced it as thin as possible. Again just wanted to comment on the experience this is the second time this has happened, but other than that everything else is excellent clean establishment, friendly staff, and delicious food, just unbelievably small portions for...
Read moreIf you live in or around Hunters Creek and really want to impress your date, you can get Downtown Orlando or Winter Park-level atmosphere and quality without having to leave the area. The atmosphere is perfect: it feels very authentic and the interior design is very instagrammable. The quality of the fish and rice used in the sushi is better than other sushi restaurants in the area. For example, in my Orlando roll I got large chunks of high-grade tuna rather than minced tuna which is the norm. The unagi roll, as shown in the photo, has a generous portion of fish hanging off the roll. The rice was perfectly soft and chewy, rather than crunchy and heterogeneous as I’ve come to expect from sushi in the area. The hostess and waitress were both engaging and enthusiastic. As I waited for my takeaway order, the hostess Leticia spent time speaking to me about the restaurants history and explaining the name and theme. The waitress offered me a glass of water as I waited for my takeout. My wait was agreeable and in about 10 minutes I had my order. I was given chopsticks and plenty of condiments for my order.
The spicy mayo was very egg yolk-forward, which isn’t to my taste but speaks to the quality of the ingredients they use. The rolls were average sized but the quality of the ingredients justifies the price. I would appreciate having a takeout menu to take home with me but understand that the restaurant emphasizes dine-in. They do have their full menu on grub hub and door...
