Daytrip Counter — Restaurant in Oakland

Went to the Daytrip counter when my housemates' parents were in town, and I was blown away! I had always wanted to go to the OG DayTrip, but never made it. I was so sad to hear they were closing, but so happy to hear they re-opened! We got the Chicken with 3 herb pesto, which was so GOOD and moist to share! It says brined, but I wonder if they poach it??

I am GF, so I couldn't eat the hot honey green beans or Caesar salad, but I had the hot Caesar fries and they were delicious! Everything is customizable, and I'm grateful they were quick to name what was GF and what could be made that way, which is almost everything. I ordered the club med with quinoa, and it was delicious! Very creamy, with nice flavours, and I felt like a sizeable amount. I really love just great salads and great chicken, and the food came out fast, hot, and was great! I am dreaming...

Finally got to try this spot and yall, the chicken and schmaltz sauce is a revelation. The fries are not overhyped by the reviews, they really are that good! The cilantro lime crunch salad was the perfect compliment. Oh and the service was friendly and out of this world, like, gosh it’s just so nice to be well taken care of. I dined in with their cute yellow plates and comfy chairs but I also took a whole bird home for dinner and it reheated well! Kids devoured it and asked for more the next day. And at home I put it over rice bc that’s honestly how I really want to eat...

Wow!! I’m still dreaming of this amazing salad!!! The basil Cesar salad with a jammy egg, Cesar fries and the black sesame coconut cookie!!!! What?!!!! That’s what you order!!!
