Great pizza * outstanding customer service * Local small business * Workers seemed really engaged, happy, committed to their craft

When the man in front of me in line got to the cash register, he discovered that the pizza he had ordered in advance wasn't everything he'd ordered. They informed him that they had run out of one vegetable ingredient. They apologized profusely, treated him like royalty, gave him an additional free pizza and other perks. By the time he left the pizza parlor, he was raving about them - as was I. The cashier, who also appeared to be the manager, whom I later discovered is named Gloria, was amazing in her customer focus and service with him. It’s worth it going to a place just for that kind of outstanding customer service.

I won't write volumes about my order, how I hesitated for a while about whether I wanted a full or half pizza, my weighing the pros and cons of the price, etc. I'll cut to the chase and say that Gloria also gave me a significant perk, just for the good spirit of it -- and probably because she's savvy and knows that when you go overboard for your customers, it generates loyalty.

Between the customer service, the quality taste, the fact that they have all vegetarian and vegan options, the way the pizza chefs seemed to be having a good time and seemed to really care about their craft, the fact that it's a local business,... I wanted to like this place I really did. And with all the prior reviews saying that this place was basically arizmendi's without the hassle, I was stoked. Here's my breakdown of my experiences (I have eaten here 2x). Pros:

1. quiet atmosphere with no wait. I have been able to walk right in and place my order. Both times were on a Saturday afternoon.

3. the pizza is not the same quality as arizmendi's. I tried and I wanted it to be, but the fact remains that it isn't. The crust isn't the flavorful sour dough crust.
4. both times the pizza has been extremely greasy (I bought the whole pie both times). I always ended up throwing it out.
5. a bit pricey
6. the place is in a renovated McDonald's. There really weren't alot of changes made as you can tell it used to be McDonald's. Bottom line: the pizza is too overpriced and greasy. Maybe they were trying to live up to the expectation of being like arizmendi's, but they aren't. Due to the lackluster flavor of the pizza and the greasiness, I will pass on this place...

For fans of Arizmendi, the pizza will feel familiar. From former Arizmendi alums, Dimond Slice is a great place to get a quick slice or a whole pie. They have a different pizza every day with fresh seasonal toppings. It's only one pie on the menu per day so if you don't like the pizza of the day, you're out of luck. They do post their menu for the week on Facebook so you can check ahead if you want. The toppings are vegetarian. Great value at $20 per pizza. The staff are super friendly. They took over an old McDonald's so the decor isn't terribly attractive, but it's really spacious and they keep it clean.
