Mellana Cafe — Restaurant in Oakland

I've been coming here for a few years for açaí bowls and normally the bowls are fresh, but the peanut butter açaí bowl is frozen rock solid like another reviewer mentioned. It's been almost 30 minutes and I still can't get my spoon through it.

The first spoon I grabbed in front of the cash register was dirty with açaí on it. When I told the cashier, she said sometimes people grab a spoon and then put it back. I don't think this can/should happen right in front of the cashier...

I'm disappointed as I've always loved this little café and shared it with many friends over the years, but the quality has declined...

Love the vibes of this café ! Right when you walk in you see a wall of fresh fruit & will hear some good throw back r&b! It had us singing & not wanting to leave!

The women who helped us was so fabulous! I didn’t catch her name but she has a lip piercing and told us she’s originally from San Jose. She was so friendly, you can tell that cafe and the people there radiate good energy.

I got the iced Yemeni latte ($5.50 & $1 for oatmilk bc I’m lactose) it was smooth and delicious!

So I've been going to this place since its inception or grand opening and service has been pretty cool, but today was strange. My family and I usually spend close to $100 a week after Jummah. I simply asked her can I taste the leftover smoothie or extra from my my kids drink and she poured it out. I said was it against company policy she said no it was at here own discretion. She even said she saves it for the next drink which was a lie. Needless to say I won't be spending any more...
