Petit Cafe — Restaurant in Oakland

This place was okay. We learned about them through a TikTok video. If I was to rate them out of 10 I would give them a 3.5. My daughter asked the person taking our order what he recommended and he didn’t really have an answer.

Our drinks were brought to us without a straw for my daughter’s iced Ube latte and I was not offered any cream or sugar for my black coffee, (maybe I should have asked). When they did bring us our food they didn’t bring any utensils. Once the utensils came, mine was dirty with food in the fork and had to be sent back. My daughter’s knife had finger prints all over it. After we started eating they brought out some type of siracha sauce.

She got the biscuit egg sandwich and I got the breakfast wrap. My daughter enjoyed her breakfast sandwich but my wrap was just okay. And the potatoes were void of any seasoning. We weren’t offered any salt or pepper and my breakfast wrap didn’t match the description on the menu. But I still ate it all as...

We were way early for my wife’s appointment with her foot surgeon, so we asked a security guard for a recommendation. She pointed out the Petit Cafe and we are SO THRILLED that she did! It’s a tiny place with some seating available (we dined in, shortly after 12:15 with virtually no wait) and is very popular for takeout with people working in the surrounding medical facilities. It’s not hard to understand why! The food, though a limited menu, is FANTASTIC, and there are sufficient options for breakfast or lunch. Also, the staff is very friendly, efficient and attentive. We split the #10, Huevos Rancheros, and the #2, Oyster Mushroom Street Tacos (plate of 3). We absolutely LOVED these dishes! Would happily have them again and again! We plan to be early for my wife’s next appointment just so we can come back (we live ~3 hours away). Petit Coffee is truly something special. Tucked away in Oakland, this charming café delivers everything you’d want from a local coffee spot—exceptional drinks, a welcoming ambiance, and a clear attention to detail that sets it apart.

The coffee? Impeccable. I had a vanilla oat latte and it was perfectly balanced—smooth, rich, and made with real craft. You can tell the baristas here are passionate about what they do. The pastries were equally impressive—flaky, fresh, and clearly made in-house or sourced with care.

What really makes Petit Coffee shine, though, is the vibe. It’s calm, stylish, and warm—perfect for getting work done or just enjoying a peaceful moment. The staff are kind, thoughtful, and always ready with a great recommendation.
