Saturday, September 13, between 3:57 p.m. and 5:03 p.m.
I have been a frequent customer of this establishment for over two years. I have always valued the quality of the coffee—particularly the lattes—and have recommended this place on many occasions. I have also considered it one of my preferred spots to read, write, and hold meetings.
Unfortunately, the experience I had on Saturday was highly unsatisfactory and fell well below the level of service this establishment has offered in the past. The barista on duty was new (she confirmed this herself). My order, a latte, took more than 15 minutes to be prepared, despite there being no line or pending orders. The barista later approached me to apologize, stating that she was having issues with the coffee machine.
When I received the beverage, it was cold and in no way reflected the quality and consistency I have come to expect here. It appeared poorly prepared and of low quality. After I pointed this out, the barista said she would consult with the manager, and shortly afterward brought me a second attempt, which was again unsatisfactory. At that point, since I was in the middle of an online meeting, I asked her to remove the drink and process a refund.
I waited 15 minutes without any confirmation of the refund while the barista continued preparing other orders. I eventually had to approach her myself, at which point she showed me the order screen indicating that the refund had been processed. However, at no time did she proactively notify me or offer an additional apology. Furthermore, I did not receive any receipt or confirmation of the refund; the only text message on my phone was the original order confirmation. I also attempted to call the store more than 15 times without anyone answering the phone.
Finally, at approximately 5:03 p.m., the barista approached me and asked me to leave, claiming that the store was closed, even though the official Saturday closing time is 7:00 p.m. When I pointed this out, she seemed surprised, acknowledged her mistake, and apologized again, explaining that she was new.
In conclusion, the service I received on this occasion was inadequate and left a very negative impression. I strongly recommend that new baristas receive more rigorous training, both in preparing high-quality beverages and in providing customer service. The experience I had was far from the standard of excellence that originally made me a loyal customer of this...
Read morePrairie House Coffee is a hidden gem amongst a swath of below-average fast food places scattered between Winter Garden, Oakland, and Clermont. This is BY FAR the best coffee shop anywhere in this area, and it really reminds me of something you’d see in a charming small town in Vermont and New Hampshire! If you’ve ever seen Gilmore Girls, it really reminds you of that whole setting.
I’ve visited Prairie House many times as it’s pretty close to home, and I’ve always been very happy with everything they offer. They have excellent coffee, teas, and other drinks, really good pastries and incredible sandwiches and light bites! They strive to be as organic and gluten-free as possible, so this ends up being one of the healthiest and best gluten-free options in this whole side of the Orlando area!! The building is so cute - it’s an old classic Florida home that has been converted to the coffee shop and a farm store (2 stores share one building) and they have a white gazebo as well as plenty of seating both indoor and outdoors. During the fall (at the time I’m writing this) they even have a pick-your-own pumpkin patch next door! Not sure if it’s owned by Prairie House or not, but just another reason to come here!!
We have gotten many things from their menu: both lavender mint and strawberry vanilla house-made sodas, taste of autumn, invincible, midsummer’s night, as well as the nutty professor, glorified grilled cheese and avo sandwiches! Plus some pastries like the banana and pumpkin muffins (pumpkin is incredible), blondies, and more! Everything is so, so good!! Their coffee drinks are amazing - sometimes they have specials, like now they have pumpkin spice, and another time they had one with basil and other unique ingredients! You NEED to try their glorified grilled cheese because that’s one of the best sandwiches I have ever had - period!
This place is so far superior to anything in the area and I know you’ll love it. If you’re wanting an amazing coffee shop, look no further, and check out Prairie...
Read morePulled up and we parked on the grass across the street, there were about 10+ spots in the parking lot but they were full.
This is a cozy coffee shop with warm, wooden (some plastic that look wooden but still cute) accents, the inviting aroma of freshly roasted beans + spices filling the air, comfortable tables tucked into quiet corners, and a low hum of conversation, providing the perfect spot to curl up with a good book (they have a small library) and a steaming cup of you coffee/tea! What a wonderful way to start the new year.
The prices are not outrageous, my “Taste of Autumn - A classic fan favourite at Prairie House! We brought it in for fall and never took it off was $6.10” and my husband’s “Healer - their own turmeric latte with organic spices, organic black pepper (for better health)” $5.63. Both tasty but a bit on the sweet side, if you don’t like it sweet, ask for less ;)
A shop is connected to the coffee shop selling, handmade hats + scarves, plus Christmas ornaments, garden accessories, flower arrangements and more.
We will try one of the treats or food items as they looked fresh and smelled wonderful (gluten free avocado sandwiches, cookies, etc, see photos).
Go, enjoy and...
