This restaurant is in a shopping center, so plenty of parking, maybe even right in front. During the recent plague, they were takeout or delivery only, except for a table and a couple of chairs on the sidewalk, but two tables have returned inside in the last week or so. The menu comprises most of the familiar Chinese dishes--Cantonese, Hunan, Sichuan cuisine. (When I was there last, they were replacing the take-one menus with new ones--price increase?). The best deals are the combination platters, which include soup (your choice) and an egg roll, but only ten entrees are available as platters. I usually get the General Tso's chicken combo, but have also tried the Kung Pao chicken. Maybe the beef with broccoli next time. The food is first-rate. Note that the two dishes I mentioned are not really hot, despite the red mark next to them, to accommodate Westerners. But they come with a little dab of chili oil, in addition to the usual packets of mustard, soy sauce, and duck sauce. (I buy chili oil at the Asian grocery, so there's plenty at home.) Portions are huge. Add a second egg roll (good price) to a combo, and it will easily feed two. Or make two meals for a single. Ambience here is basically zero on a scale of ten--it's not a dine-in place, even with the tables' return. Come for the food and take it home. Se...
Read moreThis review is only based on the orange beef dish that I tried. Orange beef is one of my favorite Chinese dishes but this place was a big disappointment. I basically wasted $17 on food! The chunks of beef were all stuck together either when dipped in batter or fried. Usually when I get orange beef from other places, it’s extremely crispy but this was soggy. Another let down was that it was like 80% soggy batter and 20% meat. It was hard to eat and enjoy because the batter just came off the beef every time I tried to pick it up with a fork or bit into it. I wished the orange flavor was also more prominent. It was kind of bland and lacking in flavor. I finished the broccoli though…I think that says a lot about this dish. I will never try this place again. Hunan Tasty? The business should be renamed to Hunan...
Read moreI’ve been having hunan tasty for over 20 years now, usually once a month. I usually get delivery, and continue to be impressed with their delivery service, as the driver is really nice, even calling our phone if we don’t hear the doorbell, and dropping off the food on our porch with a smile. The general tso’s chicken here is really good, as well as their chow fun. Egg drop soup is great, although sometimes they make it a bit too salty. The crispy beef tends to be hard at times, but still has some good flavor.
The lady who takes our order is pretty quick with the ordering process, using the phone number to help find our address faster. Very professional, and offers us great deals such as a free spring roll.
Overall, I highly recommend...
