The Sauce Pizzeria — Restaurant in Oceanport

Unfortunately I have to write this review as this is our 4th time being charged different prices than what is posted online. 1st time it was the pizza that was charged incorrectly, told them they took care of it, 2nd time we ordered two hot subs and mozzarella sticks, should have been around $42 we go to pick it up and it's $54, following day went there explained what happened, they had no answer but refunded us the difference, 3rd time went in for slices - got 2 Gemini slices, round pie, and a regular slice. As I watched them ring it up I was charged 3 different prices for 3 completely different slices, they were charging me for a jersey devil slice which was over $5 for a slice, insane, I can't remember which other slices they charge for but nothing I ordered and were around 4.50 a slice , I said something and they argued with me regarding the price, ridiculous they kept saying it was a specialty slice, not great customer service, and the final time I ordered 2 pies and I figured out what I should be paying before I went inside to pick it up and again it was $7 higher than it should have been. The guy was nice told me that here are the prices in a printed out menu, I said people order from online, no one has those printed out menus, prices are completely different than advertised online, not very good business. I would assume they are making enough money from the pizza as they charge over 25 for a regular pie with half sausage but to charge different prices than what is advertised online not good. I would check your receipts to make sure you are being charged correctly, this many times not a coincidence. Side note pizza is good but way over priced or not charged...

He lies and claims to use high quality ingredients, yet the sauce he uses contains Soybean oil.

Go to Giannis in Monmouth Beach if you want a normal pizza, confirmed only olive oil used in the Pizza from Italy or Spain.

“The Sauce” Oceanport has chinese soybean oil while Pizza is an Italian food therefore should only contain Olive oil. Disrespectful to all Italians and disgusting.

Now it is Oceanport so you wouldn’t expect High Quality but he can do better instead of cheaping out.

This is terrible for your health, soybean oil promotes mental illness and obesity while Olive Oil is a health food.

Everyone except a fringe minority prefers Olive Oil to Soybean Oil, so will he ditch his “Ragu Pizza Sauce”?

“The Sauce” is the name of his restaurant and his sauce contains Soybean oil, not a good look at all and we will peacefully protest this. Also since this will harm people we have an obligation to warn others about whats in your “Pizza”.

I know many people in the Oceanport area and they all disapprove of this practice. I also know many Italians locally that may have been your potential customers that are highly provoked by this.

So you want to feed poison the local population to make a quick buck, advertising it as “High Quality”?

That is a scam.

Counterfeit Pizza is not OK.

This review may be moved up when there is no longer soybean oil and there is Olive...

I had been a follower on Instagram for quite some time, and I had been dying to try the pizza here because it looked absolutely delectable. I went for the first time a few weeks ago, and I ordered the Devil is a Gemini Pie which is a fusion of their fan favorite(s) the Jersey Devil which is a Mike's Hot Honey Roni pie and their Gemini Pie which is made with a sweet dolce sauce that is bound to make your taste buds sing! I am not too big of a fan of Pepperoniskis, as Jay would say, but I had to make an exception when it came to trying this pizza. This is by far the best pizza I have ever had in my life, and it was most certainly worth cheating on my cleaner eating habits. I highly recommend this place to anybody in New Jersey or the tri state area. Not to mention the staff there provides excellent service! It is the perfect atmosphere to dine in or dine out of because they truly care about the consumer in this pizzeria. Thank you, Sauce fam, for what you do for your Sauce Army! Keep it saucy 🍕

Edit: Okay, the Devil is a Gemini Pie. Sicilian style is the way to go! I highly recommend this. This took the pie to a whole new saucy level. THIS was the best pizza I've ever...
