This was one of my favorite places in Ogden to visit for the best cocktails, 5-star drinks. Unfortunately the crew that kept me coming back for more is no longer here. The bartenders made the experience that much more enjoyable. I don’t understand how anyone can mess up a very easy gin, Creme de Violette, lemon n simple syrup recipe.. but it was horrible and tasted like kerosene. Decided I would give one more shot, but the other drink request has rosemary syrup. Well they are waiting for the recipe, and can’t make it. Yet, I’ve had this drink many times here. Okay one last shot, Basil dreams. Another one that had previously been fantastic. Absolutely disgusting, I can unfortunately make better cocktails at home. The experience was the worst, on top of terrible cocktails, TV’s now all over the place ruining everything I loved about this experience. People get off their couches at home to get away from the mundane tv shows, and actually engaged in conversation. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this bar, the owner of this bar needs to have his head examined. You obviously have no clue why people were coming to this bar, and what experience people came to this bar for. It was the closest thing to a Speakeasy that Ogden had, with comparable cocktails to Lake Effect. Just to throw it all away within such a short period. Good thing you make your own spirits, you will be calling Bar...
Read moreMy husband and I have been wanting to try this place since they opened, as we’re big fans of local distilleries. Ogden’s Own has been a favorite of ours for years. Now, I’m sure the atmosphere was supposed to be welcoming, but when we walked in the door, all eyes were on us and the air got hushed, despite the loud music. Like, the talking ceased all together, but of course we don’t let that bother us. So we sat at the bar due to it being the only spot available and then waited a full 7 minutes before we were acknowledged by the Bartender. She was obviously having a not so great night because she seemed distracted when she took our order. Instead of clarifying, she made what she thought I said, not what I actually said. Which was fine, honestly, because it tasted amazing and had what I’d ordered in it. I had requested a shot of Five Wives Pink Vodka, and received a martini with said alcohol mixed with lemonade and simple syrup. Again, it tasted amazing and she was friendly enough once she took our order. The next time we go, it won’t be on a Friday night. I would like to actually sit at a table and try...
Read moreOriginally when I walked in this place earned about a 2-3 star rating, ordering was a little confusing and it took about 15 mins for us to get two drinks. Once the drinks came, however, it turned into a 5 star hands down. Beautiful atmosphere, beautiful drinks and they even provided gorgeous free mocktails for our dd! Will definitely be returning to try more on the menu!
Edit: Returned again this past weekend to celebrate my husband’s birthday, the drinks still took an incredibly long time to come out, and (most) the staff was cold and borderline rude. No one acknowledged my husbands birthday after being told we were there celebrating, getting drink recommendations was like pulling teeth, and the overall vibe of what should’ve been a fun Saturday night fell completely flat. Though people who “helped” us treated our party like we were one big annoyance, Rue stood out as a shining example of kindness and service, and kept this review from being changed to a one star. We were really excited to show our friends and family this place, but I was nearly embarrassed that we had brought them there on our...
