I usually don’t write reviews but I had to. (This is usually how bad reviews start.)
We decided to eat at Steiny’s after hearing good things from a couple of friends (two to be exact). Good wings? Good fries? We were sold. We were optimistic.
Upon entering we were a little puzzled. Was it a bar? Was it a restaurant? We were not greeted, and were unsure if we had to seat ourselves or if we had to order our food first. Finally, I asked one of the many workers if we could sit anywhere. She said we could.
The five of us seated ourselves and ordered our food. Then we waited, and we waited, and we waited. [insert SpongeBob Squarepants Narrator voice over: “1 hour later”] No appetizers, no side salad, no waiter checking in on us. Nothing.
Finally, our food arrived at our table. We got all our food except the fries (you know, the fries that were supposed to come out before the food). The server looked at his notepad and left in distress. Meanwhile, my sister noticed that her grilled chicken club wrap had lots of pickles and didn’t even look like the correct wrap. Another server came out with our fries, and we decided to take the opportunity to tell her about the wrap. The server was not having it. “What do you want me to do? Take off the pickles?”
I then proceeded to ask her if she knew what wrap they gave us since it didn’t look like the right one. “I don’t know. I didn’t make it!” she told us. After she left, my friend noticed that her Hawaiian chicken wrap was not a wrap. It was a sandwich and it was soggy. We’re guessing it might have been sitting out while the other food was being prepared. She couldn’t eat it.
After we finished eating, we sat waiting for our check. Nobody came around, not even to ask us if the food was good. Nothing. We got tired of waiting, and decided to go to the front and pay for the food. My friend decided to tell them about the Hawaiian sandwich. She thought, “I shouldn’t have to pay for something that I didn’t eat.” This comment did not sit well with our server. He slammed the counter, shook his head, and walked away.
The other server took over for him. Instead of being apologetic about the situation, she decided to take this out on us like it was our fault. “We were really busy tonight, you guys weren’t the only table!” Did she not know she works at a restaurant? I’m sorry but that was not an excuse to have horrible customer service, take forever to take out our food, to mess up on our food, and for her to have a horrible attitude. Also, we were the last table of the night.
We had to let her know that that was not a good reason, but I think she was done with us after that. She replied with, “GOOD NIGHT!” She was done. And so were we.
We really tried to give this place a chance. We were pretty optimistic about it, but honestly the service we received that night was one of the worst restaurant experiences that we’ve ever had. I would not go back, and would not recommend to anyone! Save yourself the trouble and take your...
Read moreI don’t think I’ve ever had a more horrible experience at a restaurant. And I honestly wish I was making this up because it’s hard to believe a restaurant with 4.2 stars could provide such terrible service. We waited OVER AN HOUR for food that never came. We ordered one soda and in the hour from the time we ordered we didn’t get our soda, and our server never came and talked to us again to refill our waters or even let us know that it’d be a long wait (which is server etiquette 101 in my opinion). Long waits happen, I get it. But to not come and talk to your table for an entire hour or come and refill their drinks or apologize for the wait? So when our server came to the table next to us we decided to cancel our order and leave. When we are in our car another server LITERALLY CHASED US DOWN to tell us the kids meal we’d ordered was up and that it would’ve been courteous for us to tell someone? After I told her that we did and that it would’ve been courteous of them to at least give us our Dr. Pepper she scoffed and told us to have a good day in the rudest tone. So disappointed in our experience since we’d heard the food was great. We will never eat here because of this experience and I will probably never recommend it to...
Read moreI’m a passionate tennis fan, and today was a major event—the U.S. Women’s Final. I had plenty of options: I could’ve gone to Buffalo Wings or watched from home. But I chose to support a local spot I used to enjoy years ago for Wing Wednesdays. Sadly, that choice reminded me exactly why I stopped coming.
Joey—the man in the hat who I believe is the owner or manager—has consistently shown poor service and a dismissive attitude toward me and my family. I had hoped things might’ve changed. I was willing to forgive and forget. But after today, I’m done.
I politely asked if he could put the match on. His immediate response? Attitude. I then asked if he could turn up the volume just a bit so we could actually enjoy the game. Again—more attitude. No courtesy, no effort to accommodate, just the same cold, unwelcoming demeanor that’s driven us away before.
This is supposed to be a family-friendly sports bar. But when a loyal customer can’t even watch a major sporting event without being met with hostility, it’s clear the values here don’t match the name. I won’t be coming back—and I’ll be encouraging others to think twice...
