Ordered carryout and when I arrived to pick up the order was told a payment amount that seemed quite high. I asked for the detail and learned that the prices I was being charged were not the same as what was listed on the website plus a credit card surcharge was included. The manager was called over who kept telling me how it happened and giving me his “sincere” apology but clearly thought this was ok to do. He kept telling me that the prices were updated on Doordash – I had not used doordash, nor is there a link to any online ordering on the GoodFellas website; I had called in my order as I have done in the past! Prices go up, I understand that, but you can’t post one price and charge another!!!! Apparently the website menu was not updated – it shouldn’t be my problem that the business made a mistake and neglected to update it’s information. Also, before I was even presented with the bill and indicated how I would be paying, a credit card surcharge was included (@ 4%! – seems high – thought businesses were charged between 1.5% & 3.5%) – again, no mention of this practice ahead of time on the website or when I placed the order or when I picked up the order. I don’t object to such a fee, I understand that small business is tough but it needs to be clearly stated up front that this fee will be included (otherwise do what most businesses do and bake it into your prices since the vast majority of customers pay with CC). Finally, to add insult to injury, the order was not correct - included sweet pototo fries (which I don’t like) rather than the chips as stated on the menu. Ultimately, I did not like the attitude that I was wrong and unreasonable to even question – the whole thing was unpleasant. The manager did eventually ask if I wanted him to change the bill to the website prices (with the attitude of “really you would have me do that when I have apologied and given a perfectly reasonable explanation?”) – again putting it on me!! Sad because I really liked Good Fellas. I probably would not have posted a review had it not been for the attitidue and...
Read moreUnfortunately, we experienced one of the worst customer service experiences at GoodFellas Drafthouse last evening. The hostess who greeted us offered us a booth right at the entrance. We kindly requested her to seat us at another booth or table, if possible, but was told by her with a rather cold and firm manner that “we have to take the booth at the entrance and that is how they run their business”. This hostess was inconsiderate, avoided making any eye contact with us the whole time, and treated us as if we were little kids. When we insisted, she got upset and offered us a tiny little table at the back of the restaurant next to a very large group. Then, when we requested assistance from another hostess, the whole staff gathered around us and repeatedly told us that “it is very clear we have no sense of how a restaurant is run and we have to follow what is told to us.” Even one waitress suggested that “we should not pick a fight” when we were simply expressing our disappointment with the overall customer service experience they were providing us with. The first hostess then told us that if we want to sit at another booth that was available at the time, we had to wait for three other groups that would be seated at that booth before we would be allowed to sit. When we asked her if that booth was reserved for the three other groups in advance, she said no. We believe we even heard one of the kitchen staff members telling his coworkers “they have to leave,” in reference to our party of three. Finally, a manager came in to resolve this matter, but we felt very offended and decided to leave. We noticed that the entire crew was laughing as we were leaving the restaurant. We live in a close by neighborhood and will never come back to this establishment again and will share our very unpleasant experiences with all of our close friends and neighbors. If you want to be belittled and insulted by a collective group of inconsiderate and rude staff members, make sure to go to...
Read moreI have been going to this bar/restaurant for years, and have always loved the food, ambiance, service and tap selections, and by the look of the crowd and parking lot, so have many others. The burgers have always been top notch, the fish sandwich is one of the best on the planet, and their pizzas are first rate. This time I wanted to go with something a little lighter, so I chose the Mediterranean Wrap. Was with a friend who wanted onion rings as a side, and since they don't offer that option, we got them as an app. And they never disappoint - beer battered, fresh and crispy from the fryer, some of the best in "tahn." Kind of killed the lighter vibe I was looking for. But the wrap I got didn't live up to my usual expectation. I've had it before, and usually it's stuffed with greens, tomatoes, cakes, pappadew peppers, marinated artichoke hearts, goat cheese and balsamic. Unless my memory deceives me (which it sometimes does lately), this one seemed like a pale imitation of my past versions. Scaled down considerably in size and contents, and I didn't notice any artichokes or pappadews. Maybe my surprise at the shrinkage made me overlook them, but it sure was well short of a belly buster. Was accompanied by a nice sized plate of fries next door, and in hindsight it was good we ordered the rings.
Now I'm not going to write Goodfellas off, since they again impressed with stellar service and awesome sides (and beverages), and maybe they're trying to combat rising costs. My friend's burger looked great, but I'd surely be willing to spend a few extra dollars to bring back the old wrap I was craving. I'll just choose a different...
