My wife and I went to Cafe 422 in Boardman, Oh today (May 7, 2022) at 12:00. We walked in as soon as the door opened. When we entered there was a man on the phone and when he got off the phone, I told him we had 2 for lunch today. He didn't say good morning, good evening or anything. He just grabbed a couple menu's and took us to our table and said our waiter will be with us in a minute. In just a few seconds our waiter (Destiny A) brought us some water and straws. She requested to take our order in a kind and professional manner and we both ordered our lunch. I did ask Destiny if bread came with my spaghetti order and she said she would be bringing out some bread in a few minutes. About 5 minutes later Destiny came back to our table as well as others tables and said the bread is going to be late, not sure the exact reason. About 5 or 6 minutes later our food was delivered to us and we was told the bread is still not ready. We told Destiny that we know it's not her fault, she was doing a great job. My wife and I both finished our lunch meals, but still no bread. So we asked Destiny to speak to the Manager. Destiny came back in a few seconds and said the Manager would be here is few a minute. Less than 30 seconds later, a man (the same man that didn't speak to us at the door and seated us) stopped by our table and said he was the Manager (No name was offered). My wife ask him about the bread and he said he is sorry we are very busy and the bread was put in the oven late and could he offer us a dessert to make up for it and my wife agreed to accept a brownie. He didn't offer to reduce the bill for not having any bread, especially with spaghetti, he just walked off. A couple minutes later Destiny brought the brownie and said she was sorry. My wife and I both told her, it's not her fault at all, she done a great job. I do think the Manager (whatever his name is) could and should have been more welcoming, polite, and professional for sure. The food was ok, but we have had better food at better prices from other restaurants in the area. We do not intend on going back to...
Read moreWe had a party of 5. Three of us ordered the medallion steak with garlic mash potatoes in a mushrooms sauce. There was no taste what so ever. My friend took A1 and put a lot on his to eat his and he did eat some. My other friend ate some of her after adding alot of salt. I tried salt but it did not help and I will not use A1 to flavor a steak. So I asked for the manger. Well, she came and I never felt so insulted. Number one. I am 70 years old. She asked me if I wanted another drink ir extra dessert. I said no that it had no taste and none of us was happy. She said do you want to take it home. I said no. So she left. So the bill came and she charged me for for my meal that I didn't eat. So I asked the waitress to asked her to come back abd see me. She did come back. I said to her. That I didn't understand at first about why you asked about taking the meal home but now I do. If the meal was no good here why would I take it home. It was terrible. Had no taste. It was horrible. I want it off my bill. She said you ate it. I said you better look again I took two small bites of the steak and didn't touch it again. I wouldn't eat something that tasted that bad. So she said she would. I asked to speak to her boss and she said he is not here. I said how do I get in touch with him because of the way you treated us and then the waitress. I will not let this go. She said he is here on Tuesday. I thank her. To top it off the waitress brought out dessert in boxes to go which we did not asked for them to be brought like that. So how were we supposed to feel then. I am sad to say it was a terrible night. We were told to go and try your place out. We try knew places all the time and this was a bad experience. I am 70 years old and to be treated like this is terrible. There were five in our group and none of us could believe that a night out for dinner could be ruined. The manger was not friendly and didn't handle it right. I have worked in retail all my life and you don't treat your customers like this. You are forgetting who pays your bills without customers you don't...
Read moreUpon further review the pizza we had which was a margarita and sausage was good besides the crust. Was floury and really dry. The guts of the pizza with toppings a was decent.
This place is like a local haven where they know the staff and accept the crappy service and food. Only order pizzas salads and bottled beverages if you must go here. I picture this place on restaurant impossible with Gordon Ramsey accosting the owners. Stylish looking place but that's it. The food and service is better at a fast food place that's almost at closing time.
2 stars is generous. I'd like to think when it rains it pours and such was the case here. Showed up on a Friday asked to sit outside told wait was 40 minutes. Numerous tables were open however. (I understand server not available) when we were seated it took 35 minutes for anyone to visit our table. We were told their computer crashed. Not my problem and what good restaurant comes to a halt when it does. Proceeded to order drinks and appetizers. Took 20 minutes to show up. Took 15 minutes after that to finally order. Salad was good. One of us ordered a pizza. That looked good. All the other entrees were not good at all.
My grandmother ordered fish and fries. Or fish and chips. They neglected to mention they ran out of tartar sauce. Fries were cold and soggy. She refused to eat any more after trying. Who eats or serves battered fish without some sauce. They offered mayo. She sent it back and didn't eat anything.
They proceeded to return it to the table minutes later and said they would make tartar sauce. We again sent it back and couldn't believe they would do that. They should have made tartar in the first place. My chicken almond entree was smothered in cranberry sauce and sounded good on the menu but was not remotely good.
My significant other says I will never give that place my business again. Never heard that before. I'd say only get pizzas and salads. Maybe try a drink. Don't be afraid to refuse bad anything.
Oh and the fried mozzarella cheese was cold and like half a block of cheese. Generous...
