This place is fine. That's it. It is an insult to every truly 5-star diner on Earth that Cheryl's has a 5 star review, which only goes to show how little so many people in this area get out.
I am not complaining about this place at all. They used to have more old-timey diner prices, but like everywhere, prices have gone up. Any simple egg dish for breakfast will cost you 10 bucks. You can tell that they buy some of the cheapest eggs that money can buy, and they are relatively flavorless. The "hash browns" that they give you by default are deep fried, which makes them greasy and so hard that you can't even pierce them with a fork. They are pictured as part of the "Texas Hangover" breakfast with this review.
Google says this place has "outdoor seating," which is inaccurate.
Again, this place is fine if a simple, no-frills greasy spoon is what you're looking for. I am only leaving this review because if I were looking for the best breakfast place around, and I ended up getting Cheryl's for my one and only breakfast of the day because it has so many 5 star reviews, I would be outraged. Anyone who has left a 5 star review has never been to an actual...
Read moreBeen here many times over the years. However on latest trip was told I was not allowed to have my own water bottle (Yeti-style) as it was against health code for cross-contamination. I thought she was kidding when telling me but was serious. She offered that she could bring an empty glass and I could pour my water into their glass (which would actually be more of a cross-contamination than me having my own water bottle and water I brought in with me. Funny thing too is my son (toddler) also had a water bottle and there was no issues for his which further made it hypocritical for whatever reasons she had. No less, the food is decent in taste but overpriced for a "diner" restaurant. Also no allowing for any substitutions which has changed over the years too of being so strict. If I'm going to pay $13 for a cheeseburger and small fry, other restaurants of same quality or better and at least better service. Likely the last time Cheryl's Diner has...
Read moreWhenever I come home to Steubenville from my travels I never miss breakfast at Cheryl's Diner. The food quality and portions are excellent and the service is friendly, responsive and solicitous. This past Christmas I also ordered five different pies to take out for my Christmas Party - the pies were amazing. I liked the apple crumb and blueberry pies best. I highly recommend Cheryl's . . . it is like coming home. ...
