We just left Handel's. We are from Columbus and the waitress at Charlie's pizza recommended Handel's. I was very disappointed. The girl that helped us was very unfriendly and not interested in helping us with our experience despite the fact I told her up front we were from Columbus and had never been there. Even though we were the only ones in line she was very impatient. When we finalized our order, we didn't even finish our sentence and she slammed the window shut in us. She was unfriendly each time she brought out ice cream. Their policies are not accommodating as other ice cream places. The 2 scoop order you're not allowed 2 flavors, only 1!!! Had to get the " 3. scoop order to get 2 flavors, makes no sense. In Columbus you can get a 1 scoop order where they'll split flavors for you! When we shared an order she was annoyed we actually wanted 2 spoons...! The serving sizes were very small, definitely did not look like "2 1/2 scoops" unless the scoop was a tablespoon. Very dissatisfied will not return when we come back to Toledo. Happy to have...
Read moreMy husband and I moved to Toledo in December and shortly after, I saw this cute little ice cream place that served hand dipped ice cream that I wanted to try. I've heard so many good things about Handel's, but I gotta say, I am extremely disappointed (I know...its just ice cream). Two large cones cost almost $20!!! I got cotton candy and to be honest NOTHING about it was pleasant. It tastes like nothing ice cream with the occasional chocolate chip (don't even ask me why chocolate chips are in cotton candy ice cream). My husband, the ice cream connoisseur of the house) got the Red Skies at Night. The whole time he ate, he said "we could have gotten THREE cones at (insert our fav shop here) for this price! And their ice cream is GOOD!"
I had finally won the battle for going where I want and now it will be a long time before that happens again because, well, this ice cream was terrible.
I still don't understand the price tag, even if it was amazing ice cream. But side note, the girls at the window were great and we tipped them for their...
Read moreI’ve never been, so I can’t say anything about what is served, but I did have a telephone conversation with a young female (put nicely) employee. I wanted a gift certificate, I was charged and the amount cleared my account. Everything was fine until she was about to hang up, I told her she needed my address, well, things took a drastic change. She started with an attitude and the phone call took on a nasty tone. I was informed it had to be picked up. I reminded her I had said in the beginning I lived in Tennessee and wanted to purchase the gift for a birthday. I was told, well, just tell the person to come and get it, we don’t mail them. I said your kidding right, you won’t mail a $25 gift card. No we don’t. I questioned her and she disgustingly said, give me your phone number and I’ll call you right back. So, four days later I’m still waiting for an answer. A business would rather lose a $25 sale than spend 55 cents on a stamp. That’s a new one. Needless to say, a gift will be...
