First time there, and I was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, nice patio also with some Koi.
The bread and flavored oil were delicious.
*Started off with one of my all-time favorites.. Lobster Bisque.
Ive never had it be that color before, and it had a decent flavor, but the lobster in it was the absolute worst I have ever had, whether it was in bisque or straight, it was like chewing rubber bands which means it was from the day before or older OR it was made fresh in the morning and put on very high heat for hrs, which we know didn't happen considering we were there early in the day before they were busy, if they even get busy...I'm not sure, but I'm sure they get busy for dinner.
I was in the business, and lobster that tough is from over cooking. I didn't know lobster could even get that tough.
The only reason anyone would say they loved their Lobster Bisque is because they have never had it made fresh and cooked properly, and it makes people feel like they are high class because they ate "Bisque." If you don't know, you don't know better.
I can honestly say that was the worst Lobster Bisque I've ever had, and I have eaten it in several states across the country, it's like the cook didn't even try or didn't care that is was old OR overcooked or both.
**Suggestion: Managers, you should probably check the quality of the lobster meat periodically to make sure it's not something that the customer has to chew it forever just to swallow it. I'm pretty sure they just hydrated some lobster jerky and threw it in there...lol.
My main meal was amazing ** **Besides the scallops and shrimp.
Once again, Ive eaten scallops and shrimp from $200 plates to a cheap, not so good appetizer. I have never in my life eaten a scallop that was so undercooked.
I had to chew it so long that I ended up just swallowing it. I would've spit it out, but I was the guest, and I didn't want to offend my Dad who took me out.
BTW, My Dad and Grandpa were award winning Chefs and both Uncles and my Aunt were all culinary graduate chefs.
If you have to use a knife to cut through it...ITS NOT DONE, but close. Also, I'm pretty sure managment and owners expect to see, at least, a little sear on it...if not, Whatever! My Dad was so confident that the cooks did it right that he had me turn them over to see the "sear"...it wasn't even a light tan. The cook needs to go to Scallop School for a day, I guess.
**Shrimp
The shrimp was a work of art, even taking the shell off of the very end of the tail, which I haven't seen in a long time, and I was impressed, until my fork touched it...I knew.
I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say, those beautiful shrimp were at the highest scale of toughness I have had, once again, OVER COOKED..BAD.
The Halibut was cooked properlyish and had great flavor.
STAFF = 9.9 ATMOSPHERE = 8.0 LOBSTER BISQUE = 1.6 BREAD = 6.8 DIPPING OIL = 9.5 MAIN DISH FLAVOR = 9.9 LOBSTER, SHRIMP & SCALLOPS THAT WERE COOKED PROPERLY = 0.6 TERIMUSO = 8.2
You got to understand that I am being brutally honest about this. I'm not trying to be mean, and I have nothing against this restaurant, and I'm not trying to hurt their business either.
If managment takes anything from this, it should be a wake up call for you guys to get to the bottom of this sea food issue.
Everything was great, besides the crustaceans and mollusks. If it wasn't for those three problems it would've had an extremely high rating, but all that ruined half my meal. At least I had the Halibut and noodles, which were delicious.
You guys need to get a Chef that actually checks his sous chefs quality of cooking and stay on top of it.
I know, I know...5☆, #1 in Toledo, blah blah and you probably do have the best Italian food in the area, just an epic fail on the shell fish.
I'm gonna take my wife there in about 6 months and I'm going to order the exact same thing because the flavor was so good, hopefully these problems will be resolved by then.
BTW, FYI.. Cost over $100 for the two of us
I wish Rosie's the best...stay safe...
Read moreI took my husband here for his birthday because we had never been before. The staff was very friendly including our super bubbly waitress but the food was very lackluster in our opinion! The only thing that we found to be delicious was our appetizer! We ordered the bruscetta w/ bacon and it didn't disappoint! My husband ordered the lamb chops and Mashed potatoes and they were a complete joke! We didn't know that they were lollipop lamb chops because it wasn't stated on the menu nor did our waitress tell us that they were that type but when she brought them out..they were even smaller than lollipop size..there was almost no meat on the bones! I personally would've sent them back because it was a complete rip off but my husband decided to go ahead with them! I ended up having to share half my bowl of Chicken Alfredo with him just to make him feel a little bit fuller! He wanted me to try his potatoes because he said that something was different about them..they tasted like some sort of garlic oil or something was added to them which was unnecessary in my opinion. I like garlic mashed potatoes but it didn't work here..whatever they used overpowered the potatoes and my husband said that what little bit of meat that was on the lamb chops were bland in flavor! My Chicken Alfredo was a rip off too! They gave me a huge bowl of noodles with about 8 small slices of chicken on top that was spread around the bowl to give the illusion that it was more..the taste wasn't nasty but nothing memorable about it either! I make a homemade chicken Alfredo that is 200 times better than what I was served! We ordered lobster bisque that actually made me a little sick later on that day so NEVER AGAIN to that dish! The first glass of lemonade that they served us was literally yellow water..we stirred it and everything and there was no flavor! The second glass that they brought us was a tad better but you had to work to get that flavor by stirring, shaking the glass, taking some of the ice out...Whew! That's too much work for a simple glass of lemonade! 😅 We also ordered creme brulee for dessert and that was equally disappointing..they hit it with the blow torch too much and all you could really taste was the burnt flavor of it! They gave us dirty utensils too..we asked for another set and those were dirtier than the first set..the third set was the charm though! Every dish that they brought to us was beautiful in presentation but that's where the compliments stop for me! The lunch prices were ridiculously high for what we got and the food overall was not great! It's so sad when you want to do something nice for the person you love and the whole experience ends up being a huge disappointment! Oh well, I guess you live and learn..that was a bought lesson going to this restaurant! We paid dearly for this lesson! We saw that a lot of people love this place..it was getting packed as we were leaving but it definitely wasn't...
Read morePoor service 😡 Needs Work. Start with basics: Empty drinks during visit and never checked in on.
Chefs & food quality 5 star! Kudos to the back of house / chefs. Keep up the good work! Speedy and cooked to perfection. 👍
Server was friendly however had to ask for bread and oil when everyone else it was automatically brought out for including those who were seated later than us. I had to make two requests before our table was served bread and oil. Server provided us with it finally after the main dish was served.
I had to get up and ask the server to just get basic things such as a another drink.
What’s really disappointing is that I never seen any of the manager(s) ever go check on any of their guests or check on the dining area in general. They seemed too busy and too important to introduce themselves or ask the guests about their experiences or how they can help. Fail on management.
Sorry but I can go to lower end restaurants and at least the managers and servers make a point to ask if you need anything.
Heck 1-2 star Denny’s will at least bring you a refill or check on you because the server’s do their job and notice when customers have an empty glass or might need a condiment. It’s standard practice to check on a customer shortly after the food or beverage has arrived.
Sorry Rosie’s you should have kept your original pizza locations. I love your pizza and hot momma bread! You could still have easily kept the traditional brand that people still loved by keeping a location or two open and you could still have opened your high end restaurant.
When 6 people pay $90+ for 4 pizzas and 2 side salads and $20 standard tip I would expect quality service.
Not happy. I loved when Rosie’s was the chain restaurant. It was always my favorite place to go with family and friends for my birthday.
This place doesn’t live up to the 4 or 5 star restaurant it claims to be. It’s not the food or cooks that are the problem but rather the price and service provided.
Thinking next time I will find a new place to take my family on my birthday but I love the pizza too much. I will probably just get everyone’s order To Go and host it at home where I at least can just help my self and save $3 a person on drinks and $20 on a tip.
If you take this review to be harsh or undeserving just remember this restaurant classifies it self as a 4 to 5 star high end restaurant and it falls short in terms of service and price.
Fix the service issues and I’ll happily dine...
