Went to steamers with a party of 7. We had a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived.
The place was very full it was busy and loud - but overall a good sign of a wonderful experience about to happen.
The menu was vast in offering and it was hard to make a choice of what to get but the table ordered a variety of salads, pastas, sandwiches, fish.
The services was slow. While busy; the waitress; knowing our party size explained we would have a 20% gratuity added. We were expecting this. It took her 20 minutes to even come ask for our drinks. And another 12 -15 min to bring them back to the table - we ordered water, sodas, and beers.
Then we placed our dinner order. She brought back our table some rolls - one basket two butters and 5 rolls for 7 people. Never offered to bring more and never gave us the opportunity to ask.
Our food was delivered to the table in another 20 minutes. Which I thought was quick from order time given the delay with our drinks etc.
The salads were chilled as expected. The chicken parm was hot but the pasta was cold - overly soggy with water on the plate leaving the top of the chicken parm wonderfully crisp and the bottom super soggy. The plate was a large enough portion to feed 3 people easily. The red sauce was odd in taste given the region and the wonderful items in restaurants I was expecting just pure wonderfully made red sauce and it was enough that the pasta was inedible.
Another person in the party ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. She asked to send her plate back because her meal was completely cold as well. The meatballs were completely cold inside and inedible. They didn’t take back the meatballs that were in another plate and they just took back the pasta and microwaved it. It was then steaming hot. For the prices I would have expected a beautifully refreshed plate to return however it came back just like it left. Still with water in the bottom of the plate.
Another party ordered a sandwich in fries. Both the sandwich and fries were delivered as cold. The fries which I tried looks fantastic as a fresh cut; but cold they tasted like they were made and left out more than an hour ago. This was picked at; but clearly not eaten.
The fish dinner came out - the fish was wonderfully done according to my uncle and the fries too for him were the same condition as the sandwich.
The last two dinners were tuna and pasta dish and they came out and were to the pleasure of the diners. Their dinners were not hot but were edible.
The table once dinners were delivered asked for parm cheese, more rolls, and some drink refills.
In another 15 min. The parm was brought back and one craft of water. It was enough to refill two glasses. No other drinks were offered for those with beee and most of us are without drinks.
Then the bill came with that shortly there after. We paid and left.
My comments are - when two dinners are clearly barely eaten as a server you ask if there is a problem you do not wait to be told. The one dinner sent back and not properly reheated as the full dinner. The server clearly lack any level of commitment to service and I cannot help but feel that was because she knew that she was being tipped 20% regardless of her performance. The irony is that for good service we had planned on increasing the tip to 30% if it was done well and she was attentive to our party.
Secondly I would refine and refocus the menu as the kitchen can clearly not prepare this type of wide variety and get it to the table all done properly.
The service needs more front of house oversight and clearly a manager that providing guidance and focused on ensuring guest satisfaction.
Our total bill was between 250-270 for seven people. we all left disappointed in the experience and the food quality. This was my first time eating here as a former resident to the area. I would not seek to return with other high quality restaurants in the area like cafe capri, Michael Alberinis, Springfield...
Read moreI was feeling very thirsty so I downed my first soft drink pretty quickly. In response to this, the waiter offered a pitcher (since another dining partner ordered the same drink this clearly wasn't just on my behalf). I point this out because the vast majority of restaurants wouldn't do this and I find it incredibly convenient, why should she be wasting time constantly getting me refills just because I'm parched, when there's such an easy way for us to both get what we want.
In addition to that, I decided to get a burger. I'm not really a fan of seafood, bit my friends dragged me out so I was expecting something mediocre to satisfy babies like me. But it was surprisingly delicious. Kind of on the pricey side for just a burger, fries(which appeared to be cut in house I might note), and pop though, even if they're delicious.
Honestly I'm really tempted for the five stars, REALLY tempted, but for $20+ for the meal I just described (note, I also added bacon, but still), just isn't justifiable. Not in a world where gourmet burgers can be had...
Read moreThe whole experience was delicious! From being greeted straight through to walking out the door. Our visit started around 2:15 pm, Wednesday, February 26th, 2025. We started with the "fried cheese" appetizer - MAGNIFICO! Thick mozzarella breaded lightly, deep fried with marinara sauce. My husband had the "Pittsburgh Burger" with fresh cut fries. I chose the "Open Face Chicken Parmesan Sandwich" with fresh cut fries. Why, oh why, I forget to take pictures is beyond me... We ended our late lunch with a "huge" slice of New York Style Cheesecake with Strawberry Sauce. Again, why didn't I take a picture? (too excited I guess) I have never seen a cheesecake that thick! The staff was incredible. The food delicious - you will not leave hungry... Since prices (everywhere) are high, we treat ourselves about once a month. We HIGHLY recommend Steamers to anyone looking for a place to treat themselves. We will be returning with our friends (for dinner next time)! PS: Our Greeter and Server were incredible (and kudos to the...
