If I'd written this review a month or two ago, my rating would be 5 stars. I was a frequent customer, I knew the names of all the employees, they did their job right and they did it fantastically. Efficient, accurate, and hard-working employees all around. But recently, for presumably greedy reasons, this Subway refused to pay their workers what they were worth. Starting salaries at other locations were higher than those who'd worked at this location for years. (For the record, starting salaries are not the issue. Not raising existing workers' pay is.) When the old workers had a mass exodus in protest, new workers were hired on. Now, they're probably doing their best and I don't think they're awful by any means. However, because they are all new, the flow of the business is janky at best, pricing is inconsistent, and subs are made sloppily. This, and a few bad experiences with a specific worker, has soured me for this location. I live very close to this Subway, so it's the most convenient option for me, but I find myself going there less and less often because of all this. I want the previous workers back and for those who run the site to actually pay people what...
Read moreFirst time in the 21st subway, I don’t know if she’s the general manager or just one of the managers, but she was so rude lol. kept giving us side eyes and dirty looks. I guess you can’t substitute things out in place of another item UNLESS it’s on the the menu. For an extra $2-$4 you can substitute. The staff was very polite, but i could tell they wanted to walk out the door just as much as I did. Now, im not calling her rude, because of this substitution issue, SHE was telling me how much was enough on the sub? And the way she talked to her crew was awful. This is legit the only Subway, where I have seen this take place. So basically i guess you can only get a sub that is on the menu, no subbing unless you want to pay $2-$4 extra. You also can’t buy side cups of sauces anymore. It must be packets. Maybe Subway is different nowadays. but i definitely won’t be...
Read moreI had been hesitant to go to this Subway ( or any Subway in Newark) because of bad reviews. But, I love Subway, so here we go. When I walked in the door the girls were very busy stocking chips and meats and such. I was looking at the menu board, so I stayed out of their way. As soon as I knew what I wanted, one of them approached me and pleasantly took my order. Watching them prepare my sub was awesome, the care they took, from building the foundation of the sandwich to adding the perfect amount of veggies. Exactly what I ask for! Also, got some macadamia nut cookies, YUM 🤤 The establishment is as clean and the atmosphere pleasant. The only thing I wish was better was the toasting of my sandwich could have been longer, but, personal preference. Will definitely be back and urged you to go if you...
