Recently my wife and I needed to host a party in the Pine Mountain Club area. There are not a lot of choices in the area, making it easy to decide. First off, The Perch is a bar that serves food. Some might call it a pub. If you are expecting chandeliers and table cloths you will be disappointed. If you want a nice place to have a drink or a meal, you can't go wrong. There is a pool table and a jukebox in the corner to prove the type place it is. The menu is full of standards and "different" choices - the Italian Hoagie is my favorite. The chef special is the cheese steak sandwich, it was yummy also!
Luce and Angie, the new owners, are amazing and the most accommodating restaurant folks I've met in a long time. We hosted 25 on the patio, which by the way had amazing views. It was a little tight but we made it work. They offered a choice of menu items before the party and we selected some sandwiches and a garden salad. We figured it would be simple and accommodating to our guests. Simply put, the food was awesome! Even more so was the service. They waited on us constantly. We had cheese plates and Cajun shrimp thingys (they are on the menu if you want to try) to start. This was far nicer than we expected - top notch. Later we had the sandwiches, salad and sliders. Seriously the sliders were steakhouse quality. All was prepared well and very tasty. They timed the delivery of each course perfectly.
In the end we couldn't have picked a better place there or anywhere, for the party. Everyone left full and very happy with the service and we can honestly say, we all had a great time.
I don't review often. From time to time I come across one of those places that grabs my attention and my inner voice says, "tell everyone". Luce and Angie and their staff outperformed and deserve nothing but high praise for their food and service. Their daily service, food and drink are good too. Have a party and they out do any expectation. Regardless of your party size, solo or in a group, it's simply a great place to stop by and have a bite. Or a drink, if so inclined. Or both.
If you have a motorcycle, I highly recommend coming from Hwy 166. Plenty of curves that will drop you right at their front door. We will be heading back soon. It's well worth the ride.

Read moreWe had an amazing experience here at The Perch. It seems that this establishment has just reemerged postpandemic and reopened its doors to the long term and short term inhabitants of Pine Mountain Club. To start, I will say that I meant to take many more pictures, but the service by Luce and Loki and the tantalizing food was so top notch and filling that I forgot to take pictures until we were driving away. They made us feel welcome and even repositioned the umbrella for us when the sun got low without us even asking. As for the food... I had the sirloin burger cooked medium with Swiss cheese caramelized onions and secret sauce (I held off the garden so I could taste the meat). The meat, on a 10 point scale 1 being a meatless burger and 10 being my dad's best burger I've ever tasted, this racked an 8.5. This is the highest anyone has come close to my dad's burger. The seasoning was top notch, the sauce exquisite, great choice on the type of bun. I chose the onion rings and let me tell you that Justin Wilson would be smackin his lips right now just smellin 'em. Bourbon battered onion rings. They did not disappoint. My wife had the chicken tenders basket with the pub fries. Let me tell you though it was a huge portion of amazingness with freshly made Bar-B-Q sauce on the side. They were some of the most tender chicken tenders I've ever had. We finished off the meal with two scoops of chocolate chip coffee gelato... It came with a waffle cone sticking out of it! We had a Shirley temple which was surprisingly top notch (but, I wish it had some 🍒) and a sprite since we were driving. However they have a full bar and a good wine list. They even brought our pup, Gunner the Westie, a dish of water to drink! This is the real deal folks. If you are looking for the best place to eat in PMC, this is it. They just need a blues band, cherries, and a saxophone on Sundays and...
Read moreThis place is so joyful and cozy and welcoming and I have never met a more passionate, joyful and lovely staff at any other restaurant. We came up to Pine Mountain Club for a long cabin weekend away and brought a great deal of groceries and a menu to cook ourselves. The first night we decided we were too tired to cook dinner and were happy to see The Perch was still open at 8pm in this very sleepy little mountain village. We went in the first days of April, which was still winter in the mountains, and the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming, and very Hygge. Lindsay was our lovely waitress and we ordered the Bavarian Pretzel and Clam Chowder with Tater Tots. The pretzel was ... out of this world amazing! The chowder was also amazing. The owners Angie and Luce came around and greeted us warmly every night. They have so much passion and love for their restaurant and it shows. They've created a menu that is really super unique but also has a lot of comfort food. This place was so amazing we ended up abandoning our own menu for the weekend and eating here every single night. The fish and chips were the best we've ever had. The stuffed portabello mushrooms were also amazing. We also loved the chicken wings. We ate the huge bavarian pretzel every single night. The beer cheese dip just ...ugh. Can't even bring words to how good it is. I will say I was not impressed with the chicken tenders, but that's chicken tenders for you. Everything else is so good I didn't even care. Over the course of the weekend we also were served by Faith and Sophia. They were all so stoked to have us and everyone treated us like best friends. It was quiet on Thursday night, lively on Friday night extremely busy on Saturday night which I heard was normal for summer but was very unexpected for them in April. We can't wait come back when it's warmer and sit outside on one of their MANY...
