American Gothic Pizza and Gelato — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

I was recommended this place by a stranger and decided to try it after seeing how high the reviews are. I can’t believe how underwhelming this pizza is. I love pizza and can honestly be pleased quite easily, with that being said the only positive note is the crust. The sauce is very watery and extremely bland. The house made Italian sausage is also quite underwhelming and could use much more seasoning. The service was a disappointment especially which is more upsetting when the food is what it is. My party sat begin the bar where we sat for about 7 minutes before finally asking the two servers standing 3 feet from us if they had menus. After being given menus we waited another couple minutes and asked for sodas. This is when we were finally informed that they couldn’t help us because they couldn’t step behind the bar. Funny though because they didn’t have to step behind the bar to help us and these two servers also were able to walk around and brought us our food, but they had to get someone from the kitchen to actually wait on us. Soda machine was down but we were offered free tea which I appreciated. I hope you’re an ultra fan because the other three taps aren’t even stalked yet. Opening weekend of college football no bartender, soda machine down, only one beer on tap, and underwhelming pizza does not make this a spot I want to watch a game at. I completely forgot about the painting named American Gothic and thought this place was gonna be a dark pizza joint (I was thinking Burger Punk but Pizza) But once again,,, I forgot about that painting and that was the theme of the place. We ordered takeout and just overall it wasn't a pizza I enjoyed, especially with the price tag. Thin crust and we picked it up maybe 5-7 minutes after scheduled pickup time and they were lukewarm at best. My partner ordered so maybe if I had actually looked at the menu I could've found something more suiting to my tastes. But best get there before your pick-up time if you want...

Quite possibly the best pizza I’ve had. My wife and I tried to stop eating to leave room for gelato. The pizza was so good after looking at the last two pieces for a bit we couldn’t hold out and ate those as well. Because let’s just be honest, there is always room for gelato!! My wife had the Smores and I had the Cookie explosion and we both got the vanilla with crunchy chocolate. If you are ever even near the OKC area you need to make time to visit this restaurant.
