I visited the Wheeler Ferris Wheel with my daughter and husband on our last day visiting Oklahoma City. It turned out to be a great way to spend our last hour in OKC before we headed to the airport to go back home. I will say this for many reasons: First, the people working at the ferris wheel were charming and very friendly. They took the time to speak with us and even gave us ideas of other places to visit the next time we were in town. Next, the grounds provided a great place for people of all ages to enjoy other than just riding on the ferris wheel. There were various sports balls, hammocks to rest on, and a great picture spot with huge OKC letters situated right in front of the ferris wheel and the city buildings in the background. Finally, being at the top of the ferris wheel gave us a beautiful view of the entire city! We could see everything! I know that I will be coming back to OKC now that my daughter has chosen to attend OU in the Fall and we will most certainly be visiting the ferris wheel grounds again! Speaking with the employees at the wheel solidified in comforting my feelings of leaving my daughter in a city where pretty much everyone is friendly! The best part is that the airport is not so far away. This is a great place to visit before you go to...
Read moreThe Wheeler District is beautiful and offers so much. I first visited on one Friday Music Festivals. It was family friendly, include live music, boutique vendors, a large lawn that was manicured so well that a blanket wasn’t even necessary to sit on the grass. There are hammocks that line that waterfront, the famous Ferris Wheel ride, yard games, beer, and some basic food trucks. Mixed drinks would be a nice addition and the vendors made it feel less authentic. The stage for the live music was off to the side where no one was or would want to sit, at least not with the many other options. Therefore, the music part of the event was forgotten to most. I don’t recall even hearing it. Nevertheless, we had a really nice time and will...
Read moreThis tourist attraction is a great place to bring families at night. The ferris wheel has some nice views and I loved they allowed couples to go on. This might lead to longer wait times but who wants to ride in a gondola with strangers?
The ride was longer than most ferris wheels at 7-8 rotations. I definitely feel like I got my monies worth. Despite the longer ride, and long line,, we were only there for 1.5 hrs.
My biggest compliant is that we arrived via bike because this place is right on the bike path. We couldn't find any bike parking though. We locked up to a tree and luckily our bikes were there when we got back. Please get bike racks and if you already have them, put them in a more logical place like by the trail entrance or...
