My first visit to Bob's Fish and Seafood occurred in 2000 when I was working at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. A friend of mine suggested that we try this place that she loved. So we headed over to 3340 North Kelly Avenue to Bob's Fish and Seafood. I’m not even going to lie to you, when I first saw the outside, I was a little bit nervous about what I was going to find inside. Turns out what I found inside was some of the best fish and friendliest people I had ever met. My friend and I went several more times while I were still employed at the Corporation Commission, and then life took me in other directions, and I hadn’t been back to Bob's Fish and Seafood in close to 20 years. Cut to today, I was talking with my mother and she informed me that she was hungry, so I offered to take her to lunch. Instead of going to our usual places, I thought I would take her to Bob's Fish and Seafood as I know she loves fish. When we arrived, it looked just like it always has and when we went inside the employees were just as friendly as they always were. We purchased her the two-piece catfish meal that came with catfish, coleslaw, potato wedges and hush puppies. I also got a piece of the apple pie, because it looked amazing and well, I was wanting some apple pie. We placed our order and then we were given a number to hang in our car where we would wait for our order to be brought out to us. Less than 5 minutes later we our food was delivered to us. Not wanting to wait and let the fish get cold on our trip back home, we sat in the parking lot and ate it. Now my review would be fine, but I was more interested in what mother said as she loves catfish and has eaten it from many places. So, after she had eaten it, I asked her what she thought. She informed me that it was quite possibly the best catfish she had ever eaten, and she would be back. The fish was amazing, but something that really intrigued her was the potato wedges. They were battered in the same seasoned cornmeal that the fish was, it was an interesting idea that I personally had never seen, and it resulted in potato wedges that mimicked the texture of the catfish. In addition to serving prepared fish Bobs is also a fish market, so you can get fresh fish to take home as well. Before you go, you should be aware that there is no place to sit down and eat inside. We ordered inside and we had our food brought out to us in minutes. One option that is available that we saw many taking advantage of was the ability to call ahead and place an order to go. I was incredibly pleased with our trip to Bob's Fish and Seafood, hopefully we will get something as tasty as Bob's Fish and Seafood out in our area of the world sometime. I think a good fish restaurant would be great. Just a side not to this trip, I also stopped by HeavenLee BBQ on the way back to Choctaw. Because I didn't see the point in driving down 36th street and not stopping to grab some pineapple tea and some...
Read moreEvery time I'm in town. I always visit this place. Catfish always fresh. First thing I notice when I enter. I see The Cook picking up fish with his bare hands. Then I assume going in back to cook. After waiting for 15 mins. My buzzer rings. I go back inside to get my food. I look over and see cook in back smoking. That is unsanitary. I get home open up bag and see 2 smallest pieces of fish. 1 fish piece had more center than the other piece. Fries cooked in same grease. I decided not to eat. This place is cheating customers. Small packets of off brand of hot sauce. Not Louisiana packets. I try to patronize minority/small spots. When I see things like this. It really puts me off. The people they're taking advantage of are: poorer working class neighborhood folks who don't want to go far. With their higher prices. I really hope Customers think twice about dropping in this spot. Go to store get your own fish and cook it. Call it a day. Best of luck to...
Read moreI stopped by Bobs earlier this month on my way home from work for a catfish dinner. After 20 or 25 yrs since my last visit I decided to give it a try again. I was very pleased with my dinner and so the last few weeks Ive stopped by on Fridays nights. But I stopped by last night on my way home and wasnt pleased at all. I was informed they close at 700 pm Mon - Thurs it was close to this time when I got there for my call in. When I got there all I could smell was Lysol and Pinesol, and people mopping and making up orders. Mopping and fill orders isnt a good look for a customer to see when you are filling their orders. My first impression was to walk out, but to avoid any confusion I paid for my dinner and left. The smell of Tysol was trapped in my nose and the fact that the guy mopping made my to go order wasnt an enjoyable meal for me. So take from this...
