I found this restaurant on my last trip to Oklahoma, Sept 2013. The family that owns the restaurant are very personable and friendly. They, like me, are from the caribbean and spent a number of years in Brooklyn, NY. Ms. Sharon was as interested in my story as I was in hers. The decor of the restaurant is really nice and clean. I loved the bathroom. Caribbean folks will know what I mean; we particular about bathrooms! I save the best for last... the food. The food was great. We bought some food on Saturday and returned on Sunday afternoon, to buy some more food. So I sampled the oxtail, the jerk chicken, curry chicken and the curry goat. They were all delicious. My favourite was the rice and peas. This family is from Trinidad and I'm from Jamaica but who cares! Their rice and peas was the rice and peas I've eaten and loved my entire life. On Saturday we took the food to go, but on Sunday we dined in and it was still great food. We cleaned our plates!!! The best thing of all is that the meats were Halal. As a muslim, it's always a + to have halal options. No pork in sight!!! This restaurant is frequented by many local Muslims in the area. My hubby met another Muslim gentleman in the store who told us Carican Flavors catered their last Eid meal. A definite...
Read moreFor this price HECK no!!!Ok look, I love Jamaican food and this right here is not it! This doesn’t taste like no Jamaican food none of it!! The Mac n cheese was burnt and even if it wasn’t burnt it is nasty. The callalo was creamy and not even leafy like that. Like it was finely chopped and had weird ingredients in it. Callalo is supposed to be whole leaves with some salt fish in it or some sort of meat in the callaloo and it was so bland and nasty. The curry chicken didn’t whatsoever taste curry like all and it was very bland. The Hawaiian chicken was pretty much just bbq baked chicken, it was over cooked and dry. I had to put salt and pepper on everything. Overall the food was nasty and I sat in the parking lot trying to give a chance and i see car after car pulling up and either something is wrong with their taste buds or they must be trying this for the first time just like me, but I never will eat here again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just nasty and bland bland bland. Also to mention, no Jamaicans or blacks are even cooking the food… some Indian man and a white lady. Oh Lord never again. This isn’t worth the drive I just took 25 min getting here to try it. Nasty. And the oxtails were stewed and didn’t look they were braised at all. Didn’t look...
Read moreI’m new here. I actually do not live in OKC, but where I do live theirs no Caribbean food. I was raised around Caribbean’s and love Caribbean food. I happened to be in the city when giving this place a chance: Service was great, quantity was great. But sadly the food was flavorless, I’m shocked reading everyone’s reviews, this place seemed amazing but I didn’t get to experience amazing food. Speant $67 for curry goat with spinach rice, lentils, another plate of oxtails with rice and beans, mac and cheese and cabbage. Also got the beef and chicken patty’s. This was all for me and my husband, both of us were really dissapointed, Food tasted so bland, I never once in my life had to add salt & pepper to CARIBBEAN FOOD. Honestly so disappointed. Ofcourse we had to eat it cause I ain’t spend all that driving and $67 to just throw it away. I’m just hoping it was a bad day, based on everyone else’s reviews I will give this place...
