Heartland Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

This was an interesting experience. Schools in the area were closed due to possible severe weather. I had a fundraiser coupon card for Heartland Pub and grill. I initially had my reservation because I didn't know if it was a family friendly establishment (smoking allowed or not, no kids menus etc) To my surprise... They didn't allow smoking inside - YAY. ** Also Tuesday was kids eat free night. Lucky day!? Maybe so ..

We were greeted and seated promptly. Amanda was our server and she was a sweet as can be. She checked on us frequently and even interacted with my daughters. They loved that.

The music blaring in an empty restaurant is definitely ear catching as I heard explicit lyrics from 2 Live Crew and Afroman coming the bar jukebox. It was strange to hear that in a public place so loud. I thought at first it was from the kitchen so I asked. Our server said yeah they are playing that music in the bar area. She mentioned her country George Strait was playing over in our area... I couldn't really hear that. Not a worry too much..our girls didn't pay much attention to the louder explicit music.

Food choices - the girls had sliders and catfish. Both of which were super tasty and my oldest daughter said "this catfish is fantastic dad!!!" I was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I split the Chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, & green beans. We ordered the gravy on side... But the kitchen may have missed that note. We also added a side of sauteed mushrooms, and fries onion rings. The onion rings never made it... So I had the server make sure it wasn't on our final ticket. The chicken was good and the mushrooms were decadent! Mashed potatoes needed a little help... We still ate our meal in it's entirety.

All in all I was ambivalent on the overall experience. Not sure if I can talk the wife into trying them out again or not. We do live in the area so maybe it's a chance!?

The decor and the staff are definitely trying to make it comfy and cozy. So maybe it was just an off day for greatness.

Questions - let me...

I have been coming here since 2020. It WAS a great spot. I showed up today at 11:15 to grab some food and sit on the patio with my puppy. They are supposed to open at 11 and the restaurant is completely closed.. they did not clean up from yesterday. The tables and chairs are destroyed outside. The food was closed yesterday. For unknown reasons! The women's bathroom stinks, stalls don't latch and the bar has a pungent smell! The food quality has deteriorated.

This used to be a really great place and I'm very disappointed. I love the staff here the staff is great, but the owner needs to step up and take care of his property or he's gonna lose it. I personally know Jon Taffer. My ex husband used to work for him. Should I get him in here to fix your bar or should you do it yourself?

You got to invest in your property to keep it good in shape. Myself and others will not be coming back until you fix it!! New patio furniture, new bar stools at the bar, deep clean the bar and kitchen, get food quality up, fix the smell in bathrooms, bathroom door, fix the A/C that's been broken since last year, be fully open when your supposed to be open, and treat the employees better!

Food service is slow/ food is undercooked/ and always out of something!!

I would love to come back once you the owner decide to invest in your place and the employees. It could be so much more but you gotta invest in it. Or...

After being seated, waited 15 before waitress came to our table- took our order- waited about 20 min- wrong appetizer brought- not by waitress, didn't see her again for yet another 15 min or so when she,in passing by our table, said she'd check on our order- maybe 10 min later she brought us our order with wrong side item... I told her it was the wrong item, she took it and did bring me correct item Only saw waitress 4 times.....when she took our order- when said she'd check on order, in passing, and when she brought food to table and when she brought the check...Hostess brought our drinks when we first sat down and different waitress got my bf his second beer. The waitress did insincerely apologized for the wait when we finally got our dinner- after waiting 45 min. The food was ok- nothing special and definitely not worth waiting 45 min for. The service was non existent On this night, the restaurant was not busy, only a few people in there, so no understanding of the complete lack of service and the ridiculously long wait Considering we spent $51. and no, we did not leave a tip... Worst service We live in the neighborhood, in colony pointe unfortunately though we will not be returning to this establishment.... We will drive further for way better service and food. My BF and I couldn't have more disappointed in our experience...
