Honestly, had a very disappointing experience at Red Oak Steakhouse on the evening of 03/15/25. We dined at Red Oak about 6+ months ago and had their truffled creamed corn at the time it was absolutely fabulous. I had been thinking of nothing but coming back and reordering that corn. Last night, the opportunity to visit Red Oak presented itself, and I had the opportunity to order the creamed corn again...what I was given last night was the complete opposite of what I was given 6 months ago. The corn was somehow bland with a smoky after taste. It honestly tasted like someone had taken a can of creamed corn and added liquid smoke.
My husband had the dry aged ribeye, which he later admitted was burnt on the outside and overdone on the inside.
I ordered the petite fillet, which, while tender, lacked seasoning.
The brussel sprouts were the only redeeming aspect of the meal. They were flavorful with a crispy exterior.
Service was also very disappointing. We saw our server twice while other parties received more attention from her. There were separate team members going around filling water glasses, and they did a wonderful job ensuring beverages remained filled.
When it came time to get the check, I had to ask someone else to bring it. I was dying to get out of the restaurant because once I finished dinner my stomach immediately started churning. Thankfully, they had a restroom within the restaurant that I excused myself to while my stomach decided on whether or not to empty it's contents into a public toilet. My husband said no way your stomach could have been upset by the food that quickly. A few hours later, my husband's stomach was also churning.
In addition to the disappointing meal and service, our table was so wobbly you could fit a copy of Grey's Anatomy under it. I had to hold the table down with my feet while we ate it was so wobbly.
In the end, it seems like Red Oak's quality has declined significantly since our last visit. I am all for giving places an off night, but with the drastic change in quality and service, Red Oak will not be getting another chance. You would be better off going to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRed Oak Steakhouse in Downstream Casino - 12 September 2014 - Went here on a Friday evening around 6pm for dinner. You should probably make reservations ahead of time. The decor is super nice, as one would expect for a high end restaurant. This is the kind of place where you order your entree, but it does not come with any sides or soup or salad. My companion and I both had steaks. I had the buffalo T-bone, 16oz, $39, and they had the grass-fed filet, 8oz, $34. I had the French onion soup, $7 and brussel sprouts, $7. They had a loaded baked potato as a side for $7. We also had a couple of their "Downstreamer" cocktails. The waitress said they were like Long Island Teas, but they were more like Bahama Mamas, with not very much alcohol, for $10.50 apiece. The food was delicious. The service was mostly good except for the bum steer on the drinks, which were weak. It feels like a very nice restaurant. It is super expensive though. And I did not like that you had to order your sides separately. That is just silly at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAnniversary Dinner that was ruined by awful food preparation and the manager. We were super excited to try Red Oak - had a advanced reservation (explained anniversary), weāre seated in a corner table for two approximately 1 1/2 feet from another table for two which was promptly filled (zero ambient) - they were super nice folks so no real issue. I ordered a RibEye steak medium rare an my wife the Filet cooked medium. Out come the steaks, my RibEye was well done! Sent it back / took twenty one minutes for the next RibEye and called the Manager over and I asked her āin your opinion is this RibEye medium rareā? She said absolutely not, she took it away and came back to tell me that they would not charge me for my portion of the meal and I could have a free desert. No thanks and thank you so much for ruining what was suppose to be a good meal and time. You are over priced and lack management skills, never again. If I could give ZERO Stars, I would as that is what you...
