General Saloon — Restaurant in Old Bridge Township

We finally had a chance to try General Saloon and we were definitely not disappointed. We sat at the bar and ordered: Appetizer - Cheesesteak Eggrolls - ok Pizza - Large Saloon Bar pie - EXCELLENT

All the hype you've heard about the bar pies are legit. The pie is super thin, sorta crispy, but it's NOT a cracker crust, which I'm happy to see. I don't like a cracker crust on a pizza. The sauce and cheese are very flavorful, and the pie has the perfect balance of both. The cheesesteak eggrolls were unfortunately just ok - not remarkable. I've had better - but I'm glad they're on the menu.

The place is a lot smaller inside than I expected, a half-rectangle bar, and tables in the main area I saw. It's also a good place to bring the family, and the service was very good at the bar. I can't speak for table service though.

Overall - a very cool, laid back family-friendly bar/restaurant, with an above average bar pie, and an extensive and interesting menu. I dig the Western vibe (there are horse hitching posts in front). Definitely a good place to sit back, have a drink and a bite to eat - and I'm looking forward to trying a few different menu options...

The moment you walk you feel as if your not in a restaurant but we’ll hanging out in an ole fashion saloon. The atmosphere was so relaxed at times I forgotten I was at a restaurant. Service was outstanding. The waitress we had was absolutely fantastic and couldn’t of been nicer. We spoke with the owner due to our daughters food allergies and it felt like we were talking to a friend. He went over the top to make sure her food was safe. They really make you feel at home. The food? Simply awesome . The wings were great the cowboy fries were delicious, my wife liked her burger and the pizza was great as well. Definitely coming back and definitely recommend. Another google reviewer stated it’s like cheers and you the cx is norm, nailed it. That’s exactly the vibe you get that your an ole friend coming to eat. Great food at great prices . The food was really good, and I would have given 5 stars. However, I was a bit disappointed that my 11-year-old daughter ordered a cheeseburger , and was given (and charged for) a full adult-sized burger. The waiter didn’t ask if she wanted a kids’ or regular portion, and when the food came out, I asked if it was a kids’ burger—the person delivering wasn’t sure but I said is it all same and she replied yes . My daughter ordered for herself and just said I’d like a “cheeseburger”—she’s 11 and wouldn’t know to clarify portion sizes. I brought it up to waiter that I was charged for regular burger instead of kids but she insisted that my child ordered a regular cheeseburger. I didn’t push it at the time, but honestly, it felt like something the server should have clarified. If she had ordered a margarita, I’m sure she would have been questioned. So why not ask when a child orders something that clearly comes in both adult and kid versions? We like the place and the food, but that part of the experience left...
