My high hopes for this place were literally shattered within mins of entering the establishment. Im originally from Jersey/NYC area and know what a true NYC style bagel is... This wasnt it!!! Walked in, and literally, nobody said hello or acknowledged you walking in. A simple smile or eye contact would've been sufficient. I proceeded to look at the menu and was kinda surprised that a bagel place that offers Egg & Cheese breakfast sandwiches ONLY offers bacon. No sausage or Taylor Ham options! đą I ordered 3 sandwiches, which came out to $27.. Mind you, I don't mind paying a good amount of money as long as you can deliver a GOOD sandwich. I requested 3 BEC sandwiches 1- Bacon Cheddar bagel and 2- Just Cheddar bagels. Waited a few mins, then I got called over, only to be told that they sold out of the Cheddar ones. Fine, no problem! Just give me plain bagels instead. Finally, I get my order and chose to eat it there. Immediately as I'm grabbing the sandwich, I notice that it literally feels cold. Not room temperature but COLD. I take a bite and confirm the sandwich IS cold. The taste of the bagels were extremely doughy and not airy. Cheese used seemed cheap. So I go up to what I'm assuming is the Manger/ owner and ask why the sandwich is cold. And he explains that the bagels are baked at 6am. I'm like ok.... It's not my first time eating a BEC sandwich. Most places I've ever been to can serve a hot or at least somewhat warm BEC sandwich. I asked if they had a microwave in the back. Somewhere were they can maybe heat it up for a few seconds. He looks at me like I'm crazy and says no. He did offer to put it in the oven, which I then decided, never mind at this point I'll just take it home and reheat it myself in my toaster oven or microwave. He really didn't seem very apologetic about the situation at all. I'm just really surprised, considering that this place literally just opened a week ago. You would think that's when they're trying their best to be friendly and welcoming. I also would like to know how this place is able to keep their reviews from years ago, when they ran as a "New York" style PIZZERIA and how people are giving this place 5 stars, way before they even opened on August 1st đ¤ Overall, I think the issue with the cold bagels could be somewhat resolved by keeping the bagels closer to the warm storefront windows instead of them being displayed directly under two big ac vents that are blowing cold air directly on them all morning. Also, I want to share that while I was there, another customer placed an order of certain bagels only to be told after waiting for a good amount if time, that the bagels selected and paid for, were actually sold out. She requested a refund and explained several times that she didn't like any of the other options available and wanted a refund. They seemed kinda bothered that she asked for a refund. SMH. It wasn't till after she literally had to say, "I paid for something that I actually thought I was getting, so I no longer want anything else. Can you please just give me my refund now!?" đŤ Sorry I personally wont be returning here. I would rather just drive all the way to W Village Drive in Carrollwood to get a delicious REAL NY style bagel sandwich at a much...
Read moreLet me start by saying I'm born and raised in Brooklyn NY, I have lived in 4 out of the 5 NYC Boroughs and also lived in Hackensack NJ for 5 years and worked in Garfield NJ which is known for one of the best bagel spots in all of jersey. I have been eating bagels since I was 11 years old and even had my blood come back pre diabetic once bc of all the bagels I eat! Doctors order to me was to cut out bagels for awhile and bloodwork would be fine and he was right. So I'm a bagel connoisseur!!...THIS IS NOT A NY BAGEL PLACE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!! And it's a DISGRACE they market themselves and pretend to be that when it's not even close! I walk in at 6:45am and see no bagels in the baskets. They are lined up on a counter on top of each other, which immediately you know they won't keep their warmth. I am an egg bagel lover and when I ask do they have egg bagels he points to 8 or so very dark colored burnt looking bagels, to which I say, do you have any that aren't burnt. His response was they aren't burnt that's the wash they use, what?? Never in my 46 years have I ever seen an egg bagel super dark brown, unless they are burnt. I give him the benefit of the doubt and order 1/2 dozen mixed bagels and one egg bagel with butter because I like my bagels buttered from the store thinking it's 6:45am it has to be warm still. Welp, I was wrong every single bagel was rock hard cold like it's been sitting out for days, my bagel with butter (which they toasted without me asking) was hard as a rock, not airy at all, dry, bland and just DISGUSTING!! I ate it in the parking lot and was literally going to go back inside to get a refund on my 1/2 dozen but because of how angry I was I decided not to be because it wouldn't have ended well! This is NO WAY AT ALL ANYTHING CLOSE TO A NY/NJ BAGEL!! And anyone who says it is has no clue what they are talking about and the owner should absolutely stop marketing this place as such!! Believe me if it was I would be singing their praises and would become their #1 customer as I've been praying for a good bagel spot to open here in Tampa for the 5 years I been here. BUT ITS NOT! It's a huge DISAPPOINTMENT AND A DISGRACE. PLEASE STOP MARKETING YOURSELF AS NY BECAUSE YOUR BAGELS ARE MORE LIKE GENERIC ONES YOU BUY AT PUBLIX OR DUNKIN!! Also I was the only customer who walked in at 6:45am and got no greeting at all, zero friendliness, no nothing!! And my order was rang up wrong as well. All of this I could excuse if the bagels were real NY Bagels or even good. But they ARE NOT! I'm not sure what part of NY the owner is from but it sure as heck wasn't anywhere in the city. Maybe the mountains somewhere upstate which doesn't count!! STAY AWAY, ITS A LIE AND A MARKETING PLOY THAT CANT...
Read moreLet me start by saying Iâm from NJ, worked in NY for years, and I know what a real New York bagel is. This place is absolutely not it and itâs honestly disgraceful that they even market themselves that way. From the moment we walked in, the experience was off. No greeting, no welcome, nothing. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and tomato, salt and pepper, they said no tomatoes,Fine. Then I asked for a pork roll, egg, and cheese and they didnât even know what pork roll was (how are you marketing youâre from up north and do not know what a pork roll is or have it.) and started telling us about a bagel hotdog which was comical thinking it compared in anyway. That was some of the first red flags.I ordered two bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches with salt, pepper, ketchup, and mentioned we had a coupon. The cashier cut me off with an attitude and said, âWell I already rang you up so⌠you can use it next time.â Strange, but I let it go still trying to have hope in these bagels. We waited 10 minutes and got our order missing salt, pepper, and ketchup and the bagels werenât even cut in half. We asked them to fix it, waited another 5 minutes, and when we finally got home we discovered they had sliced the bagels without removing the foil, leaving shards of tin foil inside. At that point, it became unacceptable. I had to drive all the way back because I refuse to pay $20 for two sandwiches with barely-cooked bacon and literal foil pieces in them. When we went back, the owner did apologize and remake the order with a refund but by then the damage was done. It shouldnât have happened in the first place, and it was one mistake and inconvenience after another. Even after the remake, the bagels were bland, the bacon chewy with no flavor not two mention how little amount of bacon there was for this $9 bagel, and the only thing that added taste was the ketchup. For the outrageous prices they charge, the quality was nowhere near whatâs advertised. Bottom line: Donât call yourself a New York bagel shop if youâre not from there and canât live up to that standard. This was extremely underwhelming, both the food and the entire experience. Definitely not worth the...
