My favorite breakfast places were closed this morning and so I found myself driving about town looking for something new and different. I found that in Billy‘s Café on 50th and Grover. Tucked away into a strip mall beside Family Fare supermarket this little hole in the wall delivered to me one of the least appetizing looking meals I’ve seen in some time. Fairly simple order of two eggs over, medium with sausage patties, hashbrowns and wheat toast with a short glass of milk. Best part of this breakfast was probably the milk. Coffee was nothing to speak of. Breakfast came served on a chipped (the size of a quarter) plate I could have easily drew blood on one of my fingers. I did not. Sausage patties were thin and dry. Wheat toast was mis-cut and slathered with what I presume was butter but by color I could not tell for certain. Hashbrowns were decent. Never been served breakfast so fast and out the door as the atmosphere was not comfortable or inviting. Definitely not a place I would recommend or will go back to. Last I forget, my server Lindsay was...
Read moreThis place serves your typical American diner breakfast. We went at more of a brunch time-frame and it was packed with an older crowd. That's when you know you're going to experience the classic greasy American breakfast. This place takes only cash, so come prepared. And if not prepared, they have an ATM machine inside.
When we arrived there was only one waitress serving all the tables. This location doesn't have too many tables so it was doable, but I'm sure it was still a difficult task.
The food is exactly what you'd expect from a breakfast diner like this. Not extraordinary by any means, but you come to this place when you want to know exactly what to expect. The only negative about this place in comparison to other American breakfast diners would be their portion sizes. It's pretty average to small compared to other places I've been to. These kinds of places have their regular customers that the staff...
Read moreIt’s a seat yourself place even when it’s busy. If you don’t get a seat up by the kitchen, good luck. After finally getting some coffee, We waited 20 minutes to get a refill as my waitress refilled the tables close to the kitchen. 3 tables that came in after us got their food before us. We ordered 2 omelettes with no alterations, so no reason for that. 2 other tables that came in long after us got their food immediately after us. This place is a joke, they just wipe the food into the floor when cleaning the table, and there is food all over the walls that has been there a while.
If like a place with food all over the floor and walls, this place is for you. We absolutely love mom n’pop or hole in the walls, but this place made for a horrible breakfast. Their to-go coffees come with a nice soda...
