We have been going to Hectors since 2000 and after our experience today we will never go back. It has been going downhill for awhile now, but we wanted to keep our loyalty in hopes that it would make a comeback. We ate there for my birthday dinner this evening. The first problem was that we received queso that was overcooked. I only know this because I have been ordering it for 18 years. I know when it is fresh and when it is not. It was dark in color, very thick and gritty. Overcooked. We notified the waitress and she did nothing about it. She said there was no other queso to offer and did not offer to remove it from our bill even though we had hardly eaten it. Then, since it is only in the 70s today the restaurant was very cool and with all the ceiling fans it was very cold at our particular table. My 4 year old was shivering and didn't want to eat her food. We asked a manger (long light brown hair in a ponytail) and she stated she could not turn the fans off because she needed to keep the air circulated for the restaurant. We asked about our particular fan and she said she would check. We never heard from her again. When they brought our food one of the servers placed my 4 year olds rice and beans right in front of my 10 month old in a highchair and he grabbed a handful of hot beans and made a mess. Nothing was done to help. When our bill was brought to the table the waitress flopped it on the table and said "have a good night" as she walked away. I approached the same manager that never came back to us and asked if they had a FB page that allowed reviews. She wasn't sure and referred me to the front counter. Did not ask what she could do to help, did not care in the slightest. By this time I was very frustrated. I saw that Hector was there and decided to speak to him. Since he is the owner I figured he would want to know how we were being treated. I said excuse me to him when I approached. He ignored me. I said it again, he ignored me, I said it a third time and he held his hand up asking me to wait. I walked away. He approached our table shortly after and already seemed annoyed with us and almost irate/dismissive. I politely told him that we have been coming to his restaurant since 2000 and that today we had very bad service. He said, "thank you I'll see what server you had" as he was trying to walk off. I then told him it was cold in the restaurant and he argued with me. "Don't tell me it is cold in here." Since when do you speak to a customer this way?!? There were surrounding tables of people looking at us too as if a scene were about to go down. He was loud about it. My husband told him we only wanted one fan turned off. I then told him about the queso and he walked away. He had no care or concern for us being his customers. I always wondered why the location off 84th and Center closed. Now I know why. If you are going to treat your customers this way and not care at all if they are satisfied or being disrespected you do not deserve your business. We will never step foot in that restaurant again. As Sam Walton said..."There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money...

We both ordered the Combination plate w/ 1-Beef Burrito (ground beef), 1-Verde (Green) Chicken Enchilada (but recv Shredded Beef) a mistake but I didn't complain and ate it as I don't like sending food back, 1-Beef Taco (ground beef), Rice & Refried Beans. All the food tasted good, although bland. The ground beef is very finely ground which I personally don't prefer but it was ok. The Salsa that was served w/ the Chips was tasty but very mild, although they do have a nice serve yourself Salsa Bar w/ different levels of heat. Im not one that likes Real Hot spicy food, but I do like a little heat. The Rice and Refried beans were very good. We were in Omaha visiting family and unfortunately we are comparing this Mexican food to El Paso, TX & Southern AZ which we grew up eating most of our lives. This is what we call Mid-Western Mexican food, not that there is anything wrong w/ it but just a different style which is usually bland and mild. We use a lot of Jalapeño's and Hatch Green Chiles in our food. We have several restaurants similar to this in Phoenix & Tucson (Manuel's, Valle Luna, Macayo's & Taco Bell lol) as a lot of Snow Bird's from the Mid-West visit in the winter. Also the music playing was Classic Rock and I asked why are they not playing Mariachi or Smooth Latin music as that is part of the whole experience and the man just shrugged his shoulder's, as to say I don't know. They had the decorations. The service and hospitality were great. I'll go back and try something different like the Fajita's or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friend was visiting from out of town. We decided to go to Hector's for dinner on a Friday night. We had a relatively short wait before we were seated. Our server seemed rushed and quite stressed from our first interaction. He was not really rude, but rather disinterested. We had to ask for straws, which is not a big deal at all, but he seemed irritated with that request. Instead of the beef taco that my friend ordered she got a chicken taco. We just wrote this off as the server having a bad day. He never returned to ask how the meal was or to refill drinks, etc, We were pretty much ignored after we received our order. My friend and I had much to catch up on as it had been over a year since we had seen one another. We periodically looked to make sure there wasn't a wait line and that there were open tables around us. We understood on a Friday night that sitting and talking at a table might not be appreciated. We had been there an hour and a half when the server quite angrily approached us jabbing at his watch saying, "You have been here 3 hours. It is time for you to go!" My friend and I were flabbergasted, and I'm sure our facial expressions showed that. He then said quite loudly, " You can tell my manager. I don't care!" The food was very good even with a botched-up order. However, the attitude of this server was completely inappropriate. My husband and I have frequented Hector's often in the past. I am not sure at all that I will ever go back after...
