We've been looking forward to this all year. We're not living in Omaha, but came for Christmas with our family. The food was OK. My husband said the oysters were good but the blackened fish had far too much seasoning on it and over powered the whole dish. The kids thought the fish was not very good, and I didn't care for the coleslaw, but thought the fish was fine. The price was high, and the server, Jenny, was not friendly. My husband asked whether they had oysters on the half shell, and instead of answering, she picked up the menu and harshly shoved it in his face without saying a word. My son was not very kind and shouted at her when she asked him what he wanted, my husband snapped at him. I took my son out to the vehicle to discuss proper behaviors at restaurants and then returned to eat our food when it came. While we were eating, Jenny proceeded to act out the whole scene to her co worker, directly 15ft from our table where I could see her. I have never seen such terrible service before! After we finished eating, we got our bill and she circled the table looking for our payment several times. I stayed back after my family left to talk to her about what I witnessed. I gave her the bill plus 11% tip. I explained that I saw her discussing the interaction with her co worker and was very disheartened that she couldn't give a young family a little grace during such a stressful holiday season. She did apologize, so that was something. We're not from here, but we certainly won't be back when...
Read moreReturning to Lincoln and just off the plane in Omaha, the wife and I are looking for a bite to eat. We love seafood, but have yet to find a place that wows us in LNK. As I get on the 80, the wife says, “Hey, I found this place call Shucks,” and she proceeds to read off some menu items and I am sold. We pull in and the parking lot is busy for a Tuesday night; a good sign. I expected something low-key fancy, considering the menu items, but this place is homey and down to earth! We are seated right away and my eyes pop out of my head at the selection on the menu! Now here is where I get to the food! The selection of oysters is amazing for being in a triple-landlocked state; and they were delicious! The cocktail sauce is wonderful. The gumbo was rich and savory and the clam chowder, which I do not go out of my way for, was tasty goodness! I had the sea scallops with Angel hair pasta, and the wine sauce was delicate and complimentary to the beautifully cook scallops and vegetables. The wife had fish and chips and, again, cooked to perfection with, as the menu put it, a thin layer of batter. We figured since the rest of the meal was that good, we would go ahead and get dessert. The key lime pie was some of the best I’ve had in years; the right combination of tart and sweet. The wife had peach cobbler and it was light and yet a delight on the tongue. We live an hour away, but we will definitely return. And we can’t wait to tell friends and family that...
Read moreLet me start out by saying the raw blue point oysters were very good. Even though the person who created the daily special menu spelled CT wrong. And BTW, it is spelled Connecticut. We ordered drinks. I had a diet coke and my husband ordered a whiskey sour. After taking a couple of drinks, I noticed something at the bottom of my glass. Turned out to be a half of a cherry that looked like it had been chewed. I was done with my d.c. My husband ordered a whiskey sour. What he received was a Jim Beam and water. I then ordered a cup of clam chowder. It was lukewarm, and it did not taste good. Plus it had carrots in it. I mean who puts carrots in clam chowder??? I then ordered clam strips and my husband ordered a oyster po' boy. The strips were lukewarm, chewy, and wicked salty. In other words terrible. I have eaten better strips at Long John Silvers on 42nd & L. And for a better price. The oyster po' boy was fairly good. But not great. At those prices it all should have been great. We are from MA. BTW manager, that is spelled Massachusetts. So the next time we want great seafood, we'll go back to Cape Cod. Also, the restroom was completely out of toilet paper. At 6pm on a Friday night? Really? End note....our server was too busy catering to the locals than us. That behavior was also disappointing. Needless to say, we will never go back unless some serious changes...
