I gave a 5 star because of the food. It was very fairly priced especially due to portion size and taste: shockingly delicious flavor of rice and homemade green hot sauce!! We tried fish, steak, chicken, and goat. Each of us favorited a certain meat. They did not start cooking our food until we arrived though we called ahead explaining exactly when we would arrive. We then figured that is how they like to prepare their food but that was not communicated to us. I gave a 1 for atmosphere because of the staff member's loud offensive phone, see below. Also because their entire store was disheveled and VERY filthy. We almost left when we arrived due to this and concern for food poisoning with unsafe food handling but decided to eat the food after reading all the positive reviews. First time. Husband had them suggest three entrees. Goat leg very tender and very mildly spiced on mildly spiced rice. Good. We did add our own jollof to it since we had our own. The beef dish came with fu fu and a stew type sauce. Beef was thinly cut and tough, similar to jerky. The fu fu we are told is a white corn bun like, similar to a white potato. Was enjoyable, once you got use to the idea you had to chew the beef. A little spicier than goat. The chicken was about the same spice level as the beef and on a noodle that was different than our white noodles and the stew sauce. Enjoyable. Floor was very sticky. Possibly the wax or cleaner? This place is quite the experience.

Driving up to it, it’s hard to see for a lack of signage. When you walk in, it’s definitely grungy-looking and could use a little cleaning.

But boy oh boy, the FOOD.

We got our orders (heaping plates of meat, salad, and rice/pasta) and were dumbfounded. Where the initial appearance of the place had made us nervous, the bold, savory, and freshly-cooked food had us awestruck. It was, in a word, delicious.

Oh, and as a bonus, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, which is more than I can say for many other places.

In total: With a little mopping and tidying up, this place is easily five stars. I’d go back just to get another taste of their chicken....
