I travel a lot for work. Lived in St. Louis for 22 years before moving elsewhere. I’m in Omaha for assignment and have been craving STL pizza for some time. After researching, I found this was the only place around that stated they were serving STL style pizza. So I went the other night to fulfill my cravings. True STL pizza has a crisp, cracker thin crust and delicious provel cheese. The pizza I received was a soggy, undercooked, disappointment. I asked if it could be cooked more to make it right. When it was brought back, it was exactly the same….just warmer. The only crisp part was the outer crust. The rest was soggy, and not fully cooked. The provel was just OK. Definitely not like a true STL pizza such as Serra’s, Stefanina’s, or even IMO’s. Very disappointed. The manager did ask how everything was, and I gave her my honest feedback. She deducted half the price of the pizza, which I did not ask of her. I also did not eat half of the pizza, I could not. So, in my opinion, if you want true STL pizza….either go to STL, or order Jake’s or IMO’s and have it shipped to you, bake in your own oven on a pizza stone and it is on point. Needless to say I cannot recommend the pizza here.
John the server was absolutely fantastic though, so that’s a positive. Thank you John for being great!
UPDATE: So. I always want to be fair. In addition to the pizza, I ordered the CHICKEN ROSEMARINO CON RAVIOLI to eat for lunch the next day. I must say, it was excellent. The Caesar salad was delicious as well. Based on this dish I would absolutely recommend Vincenzo’s for pasta/italian dishes, just not the pizza. Fantastic customer service from everyone and a...
Read moreWe dined here for dinner tonight. We couldn't decide which appetizer to try so we ordered two. The antipasto and the stuffed mushroom. They were both delicious especially the mushroom. The antipasto was also delicious but we both felt the pickled pepperocinis had quite a strange bitter aftertaste. Everything else was delicious.
We ordered a bill-ini and a stormy eyes drink a. The stormy eyes was delicious. The other was good but if I ordered it again I'd ask for a bit more peach puree as the peach flavor was lacking a little. It was still good.
We ordered the carciofi and the diavolo pasta dinners with the daily soup as our sides. The server who was amazing, returned to tell us they were actually out of soup which I was sad about because the soup sounded really delicious. So we got salad and she gave us bleu cheese crumbles at no charge because we couldn't have the soup we ordered. Salad was good. Too much dressing and it was basically just lettuce with some diced red peppers and one tomato and cucumber slice but the bleu cheese crumbles helped a lot. Red onion slices and croutons would be good on the salad. But it was ok The way it was. Nothing special.
Our pasta dishes were very tasty. The Italian sausage was really good. We both liked the flavor of both dishes. Pasta was a bit overcooked andctadted as if it had not been cooked in salted water. But the sauces for both dishes were very good. Overall we were happy with our meal. We would return. We both agreed the best thing we had was the stuffed mushrooms. Next time we go I'm going to try their chicken parm. It looked...
Read moreWent to Vincenzo's for the first time the other night, and it was a great experience!
I started with a glass of their house chianti (which was smooth and delicious), and curiously they left the carafe at the table the entire meal. The hostess did mention something about wine being on the 'honor' system and at the end of the meal, our waiter mentioned he charged us for one glass only... Which is good because that's all I had. Seemingly they trust you to just let them know how many you have? I failed to ask for details.
For the meal I ordered the manicotti, which was delicious. Some of the best restaurant manicotti I've had, in fact. Essentially a pool of cheese an sauce, which is what I look for. My wife ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which she also said were very good.
For dessert I got the creme brulee and my wife got the turtle cheesecake (they have a 'cheesecake of the day' option). I have to mention I'm something of a creme brulee fanatic, and it was delicious. Did not disappoint. I wouldn't put it on the same level as Bravo's, but it was very good nonetheless (and was a bigger portion than Bravo's).
Our waiter was a nice older gentleman who made us feel right at home. He also appeared to be the waiter for the entire restaurant at the time (this was a weeknight so it wasn't jammed, but I saw him go around to every table around us), and he kept up very well. I was impressed.
Overall, very good Italian food for a very reasonable price. I'll be...
