Mama Lucy's Home Style Cooking — Restaurant in Opa-locka

First of all as soon as I walked into this restaurant nobody was at the counter. I noticed an older lady sitting down in a chair playing on her telephone,she finally got up 5 mins.later.After I ordered my food,I was the only one there I had to wait 30 mins.for my food.I asked the unfriendly girl at the register how long my food would to take,she LIED and said there were other orders before mine.When I got home I tasted the short end ribs,it tasted like the person who prepared my food meticulously took their time to find the worse parts of the ribs.The meat tasted like it was burnt.The potato salad was trash,Walmart probably has better tasting salad.The collard greens tasted half done with no seasoning the pigeon peas and rice was nasty with no taste! I used to pass by this place but I never visited.Now I know why.I don't understand how people can open a restaurant and don't care about good quality customer service especially in the African American Community! They call what they serve soulfood? Shame on this place. This place is the absolute worst. 1st off I came in at 5pm which I thought was dinner time and they had almost nothing on the menu. How does a soulfood restaurant not have chicken, ribs or turkey wings? I ended up ordering the catfish (the only option left) with macaroni and cheese and green beans (since there was no collard greens either) The fish tasted like it was fried in old dirty grease. The macaroni and cheese was flavorless and tasted like it was straight from a box. They would have done better giving customers Kraft macaroni and cheese. Seems like they settle for the no frills brand. The green beans also flavorless. Along with the crappy service I was pissed that I paid nearly 15 dollars for a meal I ended up trashing. We pass by this restaurant regularly, seeing the smoke and lots of customers, we decided to stop by and try the food. It was a disappointment, everything on the menu that we wanted to try was not available, you had to choose from the board which was very limited. We got recommendations to try and we disappointed big time. The ribs and chicken lacked true barbecue flavor from the grill outside. The rice and peas were so hard we could not eat it. The prices are not cheap so we expected quality food but it was not what we anticipated and it went to the garbage instead. The service inside was friendly and helpful but unfortunately we have crossed Mama Lucy's off our list.
