Horrible customer service and THEIFS!!! lunch special says $6 but Instead they charged me about $8 a plate . Total charged that day was $13 + tax. Next morning i receive a text from cash app saying they charges and extra $2 ( for tip) first of all how could they charge tip after already charging me the day before only $13! Good thing I payed with my cash app card so I have my receipt and proof . Mind you the owner refused to give me my money back and was very hesitant to keep saying I dont accept cash app card when yes they did accept my card because if not I would of gotten my food or my receipt confirmations . Not only the money situation but this guy (the owner) got very aggressive with me was calling me curse words disrespecting me when I never raised my voice at him nor did I disrespect him in any kind of way to be treated so poorly! He even was kicking me out of the store while I was on the phone with the police and luckily the officers of Opa Locka gave me my $2 back out of their own pocket which was really nice of the police because if not I would of never even gotten that. Never even got...
Read moreSylvia's was overall a nice experience. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. I ordered a Fried Porkchop lunch, with Rice and Peas, and Steamed Cabbage. I also ordered a side of Collard Greens. The Pork Chop was fried perfectly, maintaining its moisture and tenderness, and it was nicely seasoned. It was a thin cut and so good that I wished there were two. But, I had ordered the lunch sized plate. Next time it will be a dinner plate with two! The cabbage was good but, for my personal preference it had a lot going on with added red peppers and herbs/seasonings. I loved the texture but, prefer just salt and pepper. The Collard Greens were good, though of the healthier cooked version, meaning sans fat and oil. The rice was very good. Portions were great for the $6.99 lunch price. The side of Collard Greens was $2.99. It is very hard these days to find a side order of anything under $5, especially for the quantity given. That all being said, I would still glady return and try other menu items. I have a feeling the BBQ...

Found this place when I was prego and smelled bbq while I was driving. My keen sense on smell directed me too the exact location. Fast forward 4 years, and still coming. I take 2 highways when I crave it's deliciousness. What a gem 💎
**That was then, this is now: As of recent I was still eating Sylvia's Cafe, but I will no longer buy food from this restaurant. I rather not risk the disappointment. They have raised the prices, but the food quality and customer service has gone down tremendously. The jerk chicken is dry and not as flavorful anymore and the sides just don't taste right. I had hair in my rice and a red sequin that looks like it came off of clothing or nails. They would charge extra for breathing their air if they could. And don't go there less than an hour before closing because the woman there will stare you down as if you insulted her. Just always a...
